My packet went to the board for this month and was accepted. I am going to commision on Tuesday. Does my total of my student loans that is going to be paid back need to be written in my contract? The recruiter is telling me that information will need to be given to the unit that I am being assigned. Just want to have all the facts before Tuesday. Thanks

Hey mom:yeah::yeah::yeah:
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!!!!
I am not sure about the student loan thing, but I am in the same boat and am looking to get some student loan payoff and at present owe more than 50k instudent loans from my ASN, BSN and now my present pursuit of my MSN/FNP so I would tend to say "yes" you can owe more than the 50k, they'll just pay up to that amt and you're responsible for after the agreed upon amount. but, hey way to go! Maybe, we'll be OBC together (my packet should go to Board next month and I want to go to OBC in April/May and get it done we can be roomies, the two den mommies) :chuckle ha ha ha:chuckle

Contract information is filled out during your final steps at MEPPS with a contract specialist... at that time everything needs to be present on the contract which you sign your 'self' and obligate yourself to the terms of the agreement as well as service XYQ obligating to the terms of the contract..to include your obligation period and incentives etc.
I HAVE NOT talked to a contract specialist at all. The paper I signed when I signed my packet before it went to the board, was for tuition reimbursement and sign on bonus, and which I wanted first. But my total of loans was not included. I have close to 50g in loans. No one has asked for the paperwork as to whom to pay. That is what I am concerned about.
Thanks

Hi Mom,
Congrats!! I made it through board this month and will be commisioning sometime early November! Yay us!
During my application process my recruiter gave me a form to fill out that asked for my student loan info which included the payee, address, loan amount etc. When I was finalizing my application my recruiter also had me sign another for stating what incentive I wanted to take first. So I would ask your recruiter next time you see him/her.
good information - thanks for the post.... ! Congrats to you both

Another Big congrats MMO7!!!!:wink2: :) :)
HooaH!!
I concurr with Lahlee. I also signed a separate form for the address and exact amounts & interest of each loan I wanted to include in the 50K. Note,... it had to be a physical address---NO P.O. Boxes.
After that occurred, nothing happened. I commissioned and waited for my "orders". And still, nothing happened concerning the $$$$. So, I call HRC "incentives", who handle "sign-on bonuses and student loan repayment" for AR. The specialist at HRC, said my "final paperwork" for the loans were not sent to her....
So, I had to call my recruiter (3 months after my commission).....I asked about the "final contract papers"...... He said, Oh yeah..... I forgot to send them to you to be signed........Hummmm, I think. That seems a little too convenient.
So, they fedex the contracts, where I signed the dotted line for the 30k in sign-on and 50k in loan repayments, and fed-ex them back to the recruiter....who mails them to HRC incentives. I confirmed HRC recieved them then.......
I had to wait until the "new fiscal year to start......Oct 1st, because there was no money for HRC to dispense.....".
I just received my first 10K installment this week....... Yeah!!!!!!
But, of course it is MINUS 34% in taxes, auugggggghhhhh.
Oh well, at least the Army held up their end of the bargain. Now, I must hold-up my end!!!:)
Hope this helps

Cindy,
Did you do both student loans and sign on bonus? I did, and I am taking the sign on bonus first. I was thinking about putting my student loans in deferment. Not quite sure yet what to do.
Thanks,
Cathy
