Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

Well I just called again and finally got through to someone. For anyone wondering about the 2 year they said we would hear something "sometime in April" ugh more waiting :down:

ZEE09 thanks for that info, I have been following this thread, but I only applied to the 2 year program. However, this thread has been great for information.

Me too, erin and cas. Even though the chances don't look great, I keep finding myself checking SOLAR just in case. Oh, and of course I am constantly checking this thread too. :p

I did not get in. What a bummer. Good luck everyone. I am attending Hunter College right now and extending my crossed fingers into April... hopefully get in for their accelerated program this fall.

Aye its hard to stay positive but I'm trying:crying2:

:hug: to both of you ... so sad to hear that after all this you got the distressing news. It's a real shame. But like I told dr3amgirl before, don't lose hope and pick yourself up and keep going! I know it's hard, but you have to keep going. Where you are meant to be will come your way! Perhaps it's Stony Brook at another time?

I myself am on pins and needles, since I still have not been able to determine if I can afford SBU :(

Hi all,

I finally hit the "accept" button on the offer for admission (and closed my eyes while doing it). Do we also have to pay the deposit within the 10 day limit after getting the offer?

I accepted last week and still have not paid the deposit. I tried calling to find out when the deadline for paying it and no one knew. I kept getting transferred and transferred and when I finally got to someone's voicemail I hung up.

dr3amygirl- im in the same exact "wish i didnt open my email at work boat" bursted into tears at work had to compose myself and then cried all the way home, the rejection tab is the most subtle blow to the chest ive ever received ughhh. I am dependent on this 2 year program and I pray to GOD they let us know by april 1st. I called the office today and they said "sometime in april" i was like wait it could be later than april? she said "maybe we've had a record number of applicants to both programs this year" firstly---this is not the first time someone has said that and secondly i highly advise them to not tell the still pending nervous wreck applicants such as myself. Knowing the competition is "stiffer than ever" is not going to make this turning in my stomach any easier!

I am sorry if this sounds bitter and I am so happy for everyone who got in and I really do wish you all the best of luck. Hopefully if i get in the 2 year i'll see you all around the HSC :(

Sorry to hear you guys did not get in either. Wishing you all best of luck wherever you go! Remember: don't ever give up! If you want to be a nurse, you will be one. Stony Brook is an excellent school but it's not the only school. What's meant for you will be there for you at the right time. :hug:
