ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
haha yea I was in that online class thats too funny! I'm so glad not to be doing those papers anymore lol. . still havent heard anything? I got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday(saturday) so its gotta be coming soon! good luck!
I was in that online class as well. Those papers were really annoying, and I almost always waited until Sunday to do them, glad it's over. Congratulations on your acceptance!
I don't have a bachelors so I have only applied to the basic bsn program, so I know I've got a couple more months of waiting to find out my destiny. This doesn't mean I'm not anxious because I really am.
Hey guys!! congratulations it is very motivating for me when i read about everyone that made it in. It is amazing !! i am a lurker and i have felt the intensity of this thread since day 1. I am a 2012 hopeful (woohoo...Woohoo!) and i would really appreciate it if you guys can welcome me into your thread. i do not doubt for one second that all of you have worked extremely hard and probably shed a few tears. i want to experience all of those emotions :heartbeat..... i am hoping ( i am not sure if hoping is a positive word to use... its like wishing) that i can stand out in my application for next year. it worries me that i do not come from a State university i come from a cuny. i just think to myself " in one year from now is there any thing i would tell me right now to improve my chances" i look forward to hear what you guys have to say if you were the future me. I don't want to make any mistakes and i already committed one so i would deeply appreciate any advice. once again a big "yaaayy" for all of you that made it to stony brook.
Dear Cookie91,
I was like you last year reading the posts as I was in the process of completing my pre-reqs. The anxiety of going through this process requires a positive attitude (which you clearly have already) and confidence in your decision that this is really what you want to do. The hardest part is the waiting- since there are so many qualified candidates, I haven't figured out how the school makes their decisions, you can only make sure you have done the best that you can. Also applying to more than 1 program/school would be a good idea since they are all competitive. I am still waiting for a decision for this year (only applied to SB Acc)...wishing you the best in your future and good luck, I am sure you will do fine!!
So I just happen to be browsing on the Stony Brook University Facebook page and I saw the following comment from the school to someone's question regarding admissions decisions. His question however, did not specify whether it was about the nursing program, but I would like to think for the sake of those waiting that the following also applies to you. This was posted about 22 hours ago, according to the comment:
Yes, only about 25% of admissions decisions have been released thus far, and all applicants will be notified by April 1. When a student applies isn't as important as when their application gets completed (provided they apply before the deadline), but there are other factors that we need to consider like space in the class and the strength of the applicant pool before we feel comfortable releasing some decisions. We want to make sure we're giving all applicants the best shot we can. Hang in there.
They seem to answer questions quite quickly on that page. Perhaps that will be faster than the traditional calling and emailing the office?
Has anyone that was accepted so far received anything in the mail from SBU, like an acceptance packet or something? I am curious to know. I want to send the copy of my BLS to the school but not sure what address to use. Probably taking longer to get to me because of my being out of state.
I have also not paid my deposit yet even though I accepted the offer. Wondering how long I have before I can pay it.

One person on here did mention getting her acceptance in the mail this past Saturday, but she's in NY.

Paco,
I just received my acceptance letter in the mail this past Saturday. It was a small envelope with only a letter of acceptance and one other page with a link to a website with info for new students..It basically said the same thing that you saw on Solar when you got your acceptance decision...You'll probably get it sometime this week
I didnt pay the tuition deposit yet either, I remember reading somewhere it wasnt due until early April
Hope this helped!

I'm pretty sure that is for general ug admissions since when you call admissions the automated voice says you will hear no later than april 1st.
