ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
btw..i dont recall seeing this on this thread, but where else has everyone applied to? I know Paco has listed his a couple of times...but I was wondering where else everyone has applied to...
I have applied to NYU accelerated, Pace's one year program, Columbias ETP, and currently working on my apps to College of New Rochelle's accelerated track...

I applied to Stony ABSN and 2-yr, Binghamton, SUNY Downstate, Farmingdale, and SCCC. Working on my NYU application but I wanna see if I can get into any schools before I apply... thinking about saving some application fee cuz I know I might not be able to afford NYU even if i get in lol

I applied to Stony Brook absn (obviously haha) and their 2 year. I also applied to Edinboro University in PA (had an interview with them on the phone last week.. they are now finalizing decisions), Rutgers University and Hunter College. I got in at Hunter as a pre-nursing student. The way Hunter works is that you have to be admitted as a student to the college and attend for a semester before you can apply to their accelerated nursing program. So-- my plan if I dont hear back/get in at SB is to attend Hunter this spring (semester starts Jan 28th) and apply for their nursing program to hopefully get in for the fall accelerated program.
Phew. We're all in it together  I wish the best of luck to everyone!
I would have applied to Binghamton, I SHOULD have but perhaps I was reading too much into their chem requirement so I just assumed they would not accept it (mentions something about organic which I never took but perhaps was part of my inorganic). Someone else told me it would have been OK, but that was after the fact, after the deadline or perhaps too close to the deadline to get things in -- oh well.
My heart from the get-go however was always set on Columbia's ETP ... if I had all the money in the world that is where I would go. But reality dictates that I must be cost efficient for my entry to nursing. Now for my graduate degree(s), Columbia is my one and only choice. I will move mountains to make that happen, years from now, God willing!
Good luck to everyone! How will solar let us know when descions are made? I thought I remembered a girl on this thread who worked at stonybrook and her boss couldnt even find anything out for her till January 21st...Do u have any more info? thanks.
Yes, GOOD LUCK to us all!
Honestly don't know if anything will change from last year as to what happens on SOLAR, which was the addition of new student tabs/boxes that clued people in to a possible acceptance (in fact, I don't remember anyone faked out by this: if they had the new student stuff appear in SOLAR, they eventually got an acceptance letter). Then someone else somewhere mentioned that SBU may notify us through the message system on there. So I guess the time to check SOLAR is imminent. Can't hurt to start checking on Fri. However, I am going to wait until others start screaming ... Friday morning is my volunteer day @ the hospital, so I will have to periodically check the thread from my phone. Luckily I will have access to a computer I can race to if needed
... it would be nice if the first person that sees those new student tabs can post a screenshot so we can see what to look for.
Ugh, why am I still up? Need to sleep ... nite!! :)

mowski: when you called the school, who did you speak with? i called admissions at the health services center and the person couldnt give me any info regarding when decisions are being made/sent out, and said i had to call the nursing department... i have tried to call the nursing dept several times and no one ever picks up and there is no option to leave a message! i really hope we dont have to wait til february, at that point ill have lost about $2100 in tuition for the AS program i registered for.. wahhhhh
