  1. Hi Everyone! I applied online at NYM for a new grad position last week 2/6/13. I volunteered at NYP/Weill Cornell and as the hospital is affiliated with NYP I am hoping this will help me. I am wondering how long you all had to wait before you heard back for an interview. I handed in my cover letter, resume and references in person at the HR office and also followed up today with a nurse recruiter. Does anyone have any guidance or advice on what else I can do to make myself the most competitive candidate for the New Grad position? I would go to the nurse managers but don't know what units are open to the new grad position. Thanks! Christina:)
  2. blahhh, paco can i have a glass of that? *wine
  3. this is ridiculous! late februaryyyyyyyy wowww i guess they must have received a TON of applications. lets hope hope hope that we wont have to wait so long...arghghhghgh :oornt: and yes i am tired of scraping layers of snow and ice off of my car but i do like snow :)
  4. I applied to Stony Brook absn (obviously haha) and their 2 year. I also applied to Edinboro University in PA (had an interview with them on the phone last week.. they are now finalizing decisions), Rutgers University and Hunter College. I got in at Hunter as a pre-nursing student. The way Hunter works is that you have to be admitted as a student to the college and attend for a semester before you can apply to their accelerated nursing program. So-- my plan if I dont hear back/get in at SB is to attend Hunter this spring (semester starts Jan 28th) and apply for their nursing program to hopefully get in for the fall accelerated program. Phew. We're all in it together  I wish the best of luck to everyone!
  5. I AM GOING CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY i cant stand this waiting hurry up stony brook
  6. okay i am checking solar too much. paco- help!
  7. thanks herowneulogy, i am registered for four gen ed classes at hunter for spring 2011--- women's studies, european studies etc. AND I will be taking the NLN feb 8th! I am very nervous but am just going to continue studying every day from now until then. How did you prepare for the exam? I am also wondering how my GPA will be calculated since I won't have a Hunter GPA... wondering if it will be from the prereqs and my undergrad gpa? hmmm, so many questions!
  8. HAHA! I love this post because I completely agree with you on the absurdity of Hunter's gen ed requirements. I have a bachelor's degree in Dietetics, am applying to the accelerated program this year. I am going to stick through the mess of ridiculous classes-- feminism class.. european studies class... etc that I will need in order to go into the nursing program because I really want to go to Hunter. I think its a way of filtering out people and like you said-- a money maker for the school. Oh well, it is what it is. Can't fight it! :smackingf
  9. hey guys! i just got an e-mail from stony brook saying that they should "complete their work" by jan 21st.... at least we can rest sort of comfortably knowing that our applications will be processed by that time and maybe we can even hear back before that , or not :smackingf
  10. i know exactly how you feel... i am in a constant state of anxiety! just know that you are not alone !
  11. ahs760, these are all questions that we would all love to know, but unfortunately dont have the asnwers to. The only thing that I sort of know is that we MIGHT hear back mid jan. we are all uncertain together! cheers to that!
  12. i am applying to the accelerated program because i already have a bachelor's :) how long is the generic, 4 years?
  13. hi no thanku! My undergrad gpa was a 3.2.... but I am wondering if they will factor in my GPA from my prereqs that I took also. I know I have all of the science prereqs and the developmental psych and all of that.. However, what I am worried about is all of the different types of liberal arts requirements they have. I am going to their transfer orientation Jan 3rd so I am hoping I will get that all cleared up. Are you in the accelerated BSN? When did you start? If you don't mind telling me what your GPA was, how far in advance you studied for the NLN pre entrace exam etc. When did you hear back on the admissions decision? I have so many questions :)
  14. No, I dont have an ADN, I have a bachelor's in dietetics. I am applying to their accelerated program for people with a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field. Good luck with finding a program though :)
