Hi,
I just started an Accelerated BSN program, and my lab instructor recommended that we go out and get a "GOOD" stethoscope, spending about $100. This caused a little debate among my classmates (some are CNAs). I was hoping someone might be able to suggest a either a good brand or model, and whether or not need to spend that much.
Thanks!!!
I love my Littman. My father bought my first one as a nursing gradution present. I love the single tube, it makes it lighter and less noise is noted. The single bell is nice because you can change what you are listening to without changing the bell (master classic II). Whatever you do, DO NOT GET BLACK! It will disappear faster that a diet coke in the lounge fridge. I got the ugliest color I could. Then I wrote my name on the bell with black sharpie. I still have to chase down doc's sometimes with my Magenta stethoscope. It's good for a laugh!
I have a littman and I love it:)
I have the one sided diaphrm that you can also use as the bell. Depending how tight you have it to the skin. Anyhow..Mine is purple, I would stay away from black like everyone said. My friend just got her black littman gaffled from a doctor who claimed it was his.
For the people who did not like the littman , did you put it backwards? Because if you do, that is one reason I can think of why you could not hear anything. When I first purchased my Littman, my husband tried and could not hear, I told him to turn it the other side and he was able to hear.
Almost every single Doctor at the hospital is using a Littman and most of the nurses. I have never heard anyone have problem with Littman.

Hey everyone! I'm looking into buying a new stethoscope now that I've finished my first semester of nursing school. I was hoping for some advice on a good scope although not more than say $75. I wasn't really happy with the quality of the one I used this semester. Appreciate any inuput.
