only 1 week left
Hey all! I only have one week left to study for NCLEX. I've been studying as much as I can sanely handle between the 30 - 40 hours a week at my new nursing job and the endless classes the hospital is making me take for my department. I've been using Kaplan, Drexel, ATI, and Saunders as my resources and to be quite honest it's overwhelming me. I was hoping for any advice on what's my best bet to concentrate on over the next week. I realize I just don't have enough time left to relearn everything. Thanks for any advice!

stethoscopes
Hey everyone! I'm looking into buying a new stethoscope now that I've finished my first semester of nursing school. I was hoping for some advice on a good scope although not more than say $75. I wasn't really happy with the quality of the one I used this semester. Appreciate any inuput.

mnemonics for pharm
Hey fellow nursing students!! It's been a long, although great, summer awaiting the start of my first year of nursing school this fall!! I know there has probably been several posts on this before but I can't seem to find them. Can anyone give me the name of a good website for pharmachology mnemonics(sp?)? I would really appreciate it!! I'm trying to make up some study note cards before the start of what is sure to be a very busy semester. :studyowl:

Local places to buy scrubs?
I "heard" (not for sure yet) that there was an outlet store in Edinburgh that sells stethescopes and such. I haven't actually checked it out for myself yet. I'm hoping to make it there this weekend. If I do, I'll let ya'll know if it's any good, and what I think about their prices.

TEAS testing for ivytech LPN students?
I am also an Ivy Tech student who has taken the TEAS exam twice this last semester. I would definitely recommend taking the time to study both of the guides provided by ATI. Last time I checked the Bloomington campus only had the old guide in stock. However, you can purchase the new guide online by going to ATI's website. I considered it to be well worth the money. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was around $25 - $35 You can also purchase two online practice exams along with the study guide. I also highly recommend these practice exams. They really give you a feel for what you will experience during your actual test at your designated testing site. Without going into too much of the actual content of the test itself, I would recommend a refresher course in Algebra, if you haven't taken one in awhile. I have always considered myself to be a fairly strong student in the fields of Reading and English, but even these subjects required quite some study before taking the exam. Overall, I studied the science portion more than anything. I hope some of this helps you. Best of luck with your future endeavors!!!

Calling Ivy Tech Students
Hello fellow hoosiers!!! I realize I just posted a few days ago on this topic, and thank you to those who responded. I'm still hoping someone can give me some positive feedback on the ASN program for Columbus and/or Bloomington. I desperately need some advice and direction on which campus to choose. Any tidbits would be much appreciated!!:monkeydance: :monkeydance: Thanks!!!

Dear Nurse Ratched, Thanks for your opinion. As it turns out both campuses are approx. 45 min. from my home. I have been accepted at Columbus, and I expect to be accepted at Bloomington as well . Bloom. still hasn't sent out letters, but I have a great GPA and scores on my TEAS exam. The thing is that I feel I'm being offered better hospital choices for clinicals with the Columbus campus; however, I've been told that they just started their 2 year RN program within the last year. I was told by more than one source that they have had some faculty and administrative problems and alot of political upheavel within the school. Bloomington doesn't offer as many great choices for clinical sites, but I hear the education from them is excellent. As for IUPUC, I'm told they only offer an LPN to RN transition course. I don't currently have my LPN license, and at this point in my life I'm just ready to get my ASN. Should I decide to return to school one day - hopefully the place I work will be willing to pay for the rest of my schooling. P.S. Hope I've posted this in the right place, I'm still getting used to this site.

Hello all, I live in a small town in southern Indiana. I am currently trying to make a major decision on where to attend nursing school. I'm hoping that somebody can give me some advice on why I should or should not attend Ivy Tech - Columbus and/or Ivy Tech- Bloomington. This is a big decision for me and I need to know that I am making the right one. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks
