starting EXCELSIOR

Published

Hey all. I'm a long time viewer, but rarely post. I just wanted to say that i've decided to go thru escelsior to obtain my rn. I'm an LPN, have been for three years, and work in a smaller hospitals CCU/ER.

I've wanted to go for my RN since day one of graduating LPN school, but d/t financial/time restraints have been unable to. I guess i'm honestly here just looking for encouragement that this CAN be done and that i will someday graduate with my RN license.

I'm in Middle Tennessee.

Welcome!

Yes! Go for it. If you have buddies to do it with you...even better.

Hello,

I am an RRT and very eager to get my RN. When the nurses are doing wound care and lots of other treatments, I just want to jump in and help. So I know I MUST get my RN. For the one's who have graduated from Excelsior, does it sound possible? I am about to register and I have 2 other RT friends that want to join and do it as well. The bridge for RT to RN is there. What do you think?:uhoh3:

Congratulations.

You can do it.

Happy to have another classmate.

GO FOR IT:clphnds:

I am from the midwest also...Indiana. I am starting the nurse concepts exams. I am currently studying for NC1 right now. Best of luck to all of you!

Just wanted to offer you encouragement as you begin your program with Excelsior. Keep at it, it is very doable if you don't get sidetracked.

I am as well looking for encouragement, I have heard actually nothing negative except from the limited clinical experience but what I have read, actually seems pretty intense. I work in LTC and do not get the med/surg experience I see required. I guess I am wondering if I have what it takes. I am willing to take the plunge and go for my dreams. I am willing to do whatever it takes to become all that I want to be. I am going to give Excelsior a try.

:nuke:Hello everybody! I have been a long time viewer of this wonderful site. I have also decided to obtain my RN through Excelsior college. I am a 40 old LPN, with only 2+ years experience in LTC,wife, mother. I tried the traditional road but had to withdraw due to health issues which may had to do with 40+ hr at work, 3 full time day at school & those wonderful all night study sessions to keep up and course my other full time job of wife and mother of a 6 & 22 yr old.... what I learn the hard way was the human also needs rest and stress breaks or as my husband so lovingly pointed out " it was only a matter of time before superwomen cape got caught in door. I choose to withdrawn for the sake of the residents in my care and my family that deserve the best I can give. Thanks to all the wonderful posts of those who have overcome the obstacles in their own lives, have decided to choose the road that best suits my life at this time in my life. I know this will not be an easy road but it really helps to know others have succeeded and are working towards the same goalsI have reapplied for new acceptance(applied & accepted 2006 but did not think I could do clinical without more experience)waiting new review of my status. I current working NC 1 while waiting. Thank you all for all the wonderful info on this forum so I and so many others have info to make good choices and to stay away from publishing companies. Take care and good luck to all to all working on the CPNE.

Good to have you, Lauren'sMommy!

Thanks for your input Lauren's mommy. I also work a hectic schedule and was afraid that working LTC instead of med surg that I wouldn't have the experience needed to pass clinicals. This website has given me the encouragement I need. I have to reapply as I did not follow through for fear after being accepted previously. It is costly but the benefit outweighs the cost. Good luck in your journey:wink2:

I never worked med-surg and passed the CPNE on my first attempt. :) It can be done!
