starting EXCELSIOR

Published

Hey all. I'm a long time viewer, but rarely post. I just wanted to say that i've decided to go thru escelsior to obtain my rn. I'm an LPN, have been for three years, and work in a smaller hospitals CCU/ER.

I've wanted to go for my RN since day one of graduating LPN school, but d/t financial/time restraints have been unable to. I guess i'm honestly here just looking for encouragement that this CAN be done and that i will someday graduate with my RN license.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

It worked for me! :) And many others here. One important consideration is whether or not your state board of nursing recognizes the EC ADN, and if you'd ever move to a state where EC's ADN is not recognized. That part is a major pain, seriously.

Heya Lunah:) I did check with my BON first thing b/f even speaking with excelsior, and they said that Excelsior was in good standing in my state, and they had no plans of changing that. I live in the midwest, and it seems that all my surrounding states also accept this program also.

I just graduated and test 11/10.

Good to have another classmate!

:wlcmhnds:Great to have you, and Good Luck! Traci

Email me cause I am also starting it the program.

Specializes in OB.

I am planning on starting the program and am very excited. I had been in contact with ISU and decided that was not for me. It would take me at least 3 years to finish in their program (even though I have all pre-reqs done) plus they have a lot of extra classes that are not nursing related (but they are a BSN program). I must say the CPNE makes me nervous. But like everything else it is something that can be prepared for. Good luck to everyone that is starting this endevour!!

And to you, Spanishchik!

There are a bunch of us as evidence that it can be done.

:)

Hello,

I am an RRT and very eager to get my RN. When the nurses are doing wound care and lots of other treatments, I just want to jump in and help. So I know I MUST get my RN. For the one's who have graduated from Excelsior, does it sound possible? I am about to register and I have 2 other RT friends that want to join and do it as well. The bridge for RT to RN is there. What do you think?:uhoh3:

Sure you can do it. Go for it!
