At least she came and talked to you directly. Our facebook page is now being inundated (sp?) with parents complaining about how we don't send home letters letting parents know when lice is in any of our classrooms/schools. Also a ton of complaints regarding lunch recess falls/scrapes and why their child didn't get to immediately see the nurse. Poor recess monitors are getting grilled.

I hate Facebook rants! We had this last year with a head lice "epidemic" according to FB everyone in 2nd grade had lice, however I only knew about 3 students...all year...not even close to the same time.
I had a great meeting with a MamaBear yesterday. They are going through a process trying to reverse the kid's allergies. It's super interesting. This has nothing to do with your post, Flare. I just thought, some MamaBears are cool.
I have a student that is also going through that process, Farawyn. MamaBear is this cause is also awesome and they have succeeded with one of the student's many food allergies. It is very cool to follow!
On this topic, I remind parents that I only know things about your child that you wish to share with me. And interestingly enough, since I work with the older kids, the kid will typically tell me way more about their medical history than a parent.
Like the student that visited me with pain related to recent surgery for a ongoing chronic medical issue I knew nothing about. Talked to the student, got an update, then called home to talk to Mom. Mom thought I "didn't need to know because it was private." Okay, well then how can I help your child in school manage post-op pain if I don't know about it? The call did end well, though. Turns out Mom was concerned that I needed to tell everyone about it and I reassured her I don't and that privacy is actually, well, part of my job as a health care professional.
It does make me think about finding a way to reassure parents about that fact when I send home health forms for next school year...

Ah - nothing quite starts the day out like a Mamabear coming at you for doing nothing for her child's headache. Didn't I know that child gets cluster headaches? Uh -apparently not since this is the first we are discussing it. Also given the fact that I haven't actually seen child since December ( only visit all year)and suspect they may have been seen while I was attending to something out of the office by a coverage - uh, no- I do not see any patterns here.
On the plus side - when I explained my side and those tidbits, the claws were retracted and the conversation ended pleasantly.
