1st semester expectations

How hard is the first semester of nursing school? I'm nervous and excited.

Me too! I start in august. Do you as we'll?

First year goes quickly and at the end, you look back and think of how far you've come. Just take one day at a time and understand that even failure is a learning experience. You'll be just fine.

My advice is learn to remember, not to just pass the tests. Going into my third year, I'm most worried about forgetting things. It builds on previous knowledge, so put the effort in right from the beginning to understand the concepts. Ask lots of questions and review often! Good luck, and enjoy the ride! :)

Depends on what you would consider "hard." I found managing my study/assignment schedule and dealing with different personalities hard.

Hard.

For me, the most difficult things were learning NCLEX style questions, managing assignments, and developing a routine at clinicals.

It was not my hardest semester.

It's not easy, mainly a shock because of the vast information. And the pace. Stay on top of things, and you'll do fine. I'm going into second year of my ADN program and the first year flew by so fast. I'm hoping for the same for second year.

I start in August too. So excited, yet quite nervous.

I can't really say because I don't know anything about the program you are attending and I don't know what kinds of things you personally find difficult. In general, most people have to become accustomed to the types of questions asked on exams and the amount of reading and information that must be absorbed. Personally, I don't know that I'd say first semester was hard, but it sure was time consuming. I spent hours and hours every day doing something nursing school related that first semester. But it definitely wasn't my hardest semester. At least then, what was expected of me was low. As you progress, the expectations grow. So just learn as much as you can so that you have a good foundation to build upon. Best wishes!

I start next month also. Just got all of my books this week. It just seem overwhelming but I think it will be great!!

I also start NS next month. Very nervous.
