Spring 2014

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

What prerequisites are you guys taking for spring 2014? How many prerequisites do you have until you move to the general nursing forum? What are y'all's GPA? Mines is currently a 3.7. The classes I'm enrolled in for spring 2014 are:

1) general psychology

2) English II

3) nutrition

4) computer applications.

I have 5 more classes to take before I'm able to start my actual nursing courses.

I'm taking my last three pre-reqs: Microbiology, Statistics and Ethics. Hoping to start the program next fall! I will turn in my application this week and should hear back by February sometime. I was able to maintain my 4.0 again this last semester.

Spring will be my last semester of pre-reqs for the ADN program:

A&P II Lecture/Lab

Statistics

Lifespan and Developmental Psychology

Microbiology

For BSN, I still need to take Chemistry and a history course.

Technically, I can already move into that forum, but I am waiting to hear from one school in February (which is the one I want to go to). I will however be taking nutrition and hopefully the preceptor class for anatomy as a non-degree seeking student since I graduated last week.

Hey future RNs! I finished my last prerequisites this fall with a 4.0.

The classes I'm taking in spring all have separate dates needed to be completed so I'm getting them all out of the way then.

Humanities

English 2

Human developmental psych

Taking my entrance exam March '14 for acceptance in Aug '14. Good luck and God bless you all!

Spring 2014, I'm taking a&p1, & cna course! I have a 3.3 now& I just recently sent my application in for nursing school

Specializes in Hospice.

The General Nursing forum? Here on Allnurses? That's not for students taking pre reqs or students in nursing. It's working nurses, or should I say licensed nurses, although I guess you can still go there and visit!

Specializes in Emergency Room.

I have A&P II and Micro, add in the studying for Hesi in between. Those are my last two before I can apply for the ptogram. My gpa dipped down to 3.6

How was and A&P I? Any tips? I plan on taking my sciences next summer.

A&P 1 went really well, but it was time consuming with both the lecture/lab. I would suggest finding a way to study that works for you and sticking with it. I would read the chapters before class, then make outlines using the notes I took in class and the chapter objectives our teacher gave us. I also made charts/drew pictures of concepts I had difficulty understanding, like endrochondral/intramembranous ossification. Watching YouTube videos helped me, and I also used the website that came with my textbook. We had a lab quiz every week, and a take-home lecture quiz every week (which had tough, critical thinking types of questions), two lab exams, three lecture exams, and a final exam that covered everything we learned the entire semester. I ended up getting 107% in the class. Are you taking A&P 1 during a condensed summer semester?

AP I is definitely time consuming. Make sure you do your research and have a great professor to help you through the course. It's a lot of material in a short amount of time. Lots of memorization with the joints, bones, muscles etc. I had a professor that should not even be teaching in my opinion, he failed almost my entire class. Thank god I have great study habits and passed lecture with a b and lab with an a! Taking APII this semester with sociology and psychology. Then I transfer to my nursing school in July which I've already been accepted to! It's all coming together! Study hard and smart and you guys can do it!
