I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!
Where are you applying?
What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?
When is your schools deadline?
When does the acceptance letters go out?
What is your plan A, B, C...?
where: Community College of Rhode Island
Application deadline: Febuary 2008 for Spring 2009
Acceptance letters: Contacted my admissions officer, she state they have not even started reviewing applicants yet. Maybe will know sometime in Oct?
GPA: CCRI includes my gpa from my previous college degree which I earned 16 years ago, so it is 3.85. GPA for just nursing pre-reqs 4.0.
Back-up plan: Will apply to 3-4 other schools in my area for next year, hopefully I won't need a back-up!
Good luck to everyone!
This week I am putting together my application for Sacramento City College's Sutter program (it's a co-op between the college and a local hospital...very nice facility and excellent NCLEX pass rates!). I just noticed that the deadline is a week away, so I have been rushing around like a mad woman trying to get everything together. Today I had to visit no less than THREE different deans to try to get them to sign off on pre-reqs taken elsewhere. Still no word....
So, there's the Sutter program, which is my #3 choice. The others are:
1-Sac State BSN
2-Sac State ASBSN
3-Sutter/SCC
4-SCC/ARC/Sierra, etc...
Pre-req GPA: 4.0
TEAS: Over 94%
GOOD LUCK to everyone!!!!!
I'm also rushing around like a madwoman for the Sutter program! Your GPA and TEAS are slightly higher than mine. You should have a pretty good shot at Sac State based on their past enrollment statistics, unless they've raised them significantly in the past year. Good luck!
That's my hope...I'm actually RE-TAKING the TEAS to try for a higher score...I know, I'm OBSESSING! Did you get your Education Plan at SCC yet? I called to ask for an appointment and the first available was the 16th. So I just went down there as a walk-in and thankfully someone met with me. If you still need it, then just show up! GOOD LUCK!
I would love the Sutter progam, too. Looks like it is really wonderful. I hope you get in!!!!
I got my counselor's appointment a few weeks ago. I'm rushing around on the transcripts, though (office copy of the official transcripts were sent long ago, but I procrastinated on my copies) and now have to pay the rush fee if I want to be sure of having it. I also still need to write the essay, which I've been false-starting for months now!
And I'm considering retaking the TEAS too, now that I know where my "weaknesses" are. I have a 93.5% on that.

The surprising thing about the TEAS was that my weakest area was the one I thought would be "no problem!" Ha! I guess I learned a lesson with that one!
Good luck with everything. And yes, I paid rush fees for the transcripts, too! They should be arriving by Fed Ex tomorrow. I started my essay last night...not really sure what they're looking for so I keep second-guessing myself.
GOOD LUCK!!!! I look forward to reading your "accepted" post in a couple of months (and then meeting you at orientation...gotta think positive! )

anytime-november 1st is deadline
2 weeks after you apply
my plan is to get into the school in spring then get into the program by fall 2009
i dont have a plan b since this is my plan b, and i will give up so plan c doesnt exist
In the end I opted out of the traditional BSN program and only applied to the DE-MSN program and got accepted!! So I will start in January :)
Another update from me. While I was applying to the DE-MSN program, I was also on the waitlist for a Master's program that would allow me to gain admission into medical school once completed (my original intended path). Two weeks ago I got the call from the admission office that I was off the waitlist for this Master's program. So I have gone over to the darkside and will be pursuing that path. Hopefully you all will still let me hang out her occasionally :)
