Spring 09 Hopefuls

Published

I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!

Where are you applying?

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

When is your schools deadline?

When does the acceptance letters go out?

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Another update from me. While I was applying to the DE-MSN program, I was also on the waitlist for a Master's program that would allow me to gain admission into medical school once completed (my original intended path). Two weeks ago I got the call from the admission office that I was off the waitlist for this Master's program. So I have gone over to the darkside and will be pursuing that path. Hopefully you all will still let me hang out her occasionally :)

*wine Congrats. That is amazing. :dncgbby:

Congrats!!! That's awesome.... I've been in class and studying for tests, and haven't check in....wow can you miss stuff. I'm so happy for you!!

:ancong!:

School: Augusta state university

GPA: 3.6

( have not ever retaken or failed a class)

I am currently taking APII and Micro and that is all the core I am missing. hopefully this will not count against me in the application process. It is a fairly competetive program but this session is their last before they start the BSN program in a year and a half. Hopefully I get in so I dont have to wait that long.

Hoping not to have to think of a Plan B!!!

I just got two of my applications submitted - both early! One over a month early! I'm normally a total last minute person, so I'm proud of myself!

For those applying for the Sacramento City College programs - at 3:00 today there were about 150 applications received for each of the programs. I'm curious to see how many they end up getting.

I applied today too! Do people know that Monday is the deadline? I would have thought there would be more than that...but maybe most will come in on Monday. Usually that would be me, but I didn't want to have it hanging over my head all weekend.

Do you know what kind of stats you need to be accepted? I didn't realize it's not lottery based...I just assumed it was b/c of the CCC connection, but maybe they're able to get around that because of the Sutter funding?

I'll bet you were smart and did both apps at once...that sounds waaay too organized for me. Nope, I'll just wait until the last minute (AGAIN!) Ugh! You'd think I'd learn, but it was all I could do to round up ONE packet...I didn't have the energy for two.

GOOD LUCK!

I wouldn't have done both apps at once, except when I went to get my rush transcript from a previous college, they gave me all 4 copies I needed right then at no additional cost, so I had the transcript for both apps on hand. And from there it was just a matter of making a few extra photocopies and filling out the other application.

If it wasn't for that, I'd probably have turned it in at the last minute.

I hope everyone forgets to apply to Sutter! :) I'm wondering if they'll get less applicants because of the extra requirements.

I have no clue what sort of stats you need to get accepted. I suppose it depends on the number of applicants. People have told me that you basically have to have a 4.0 and be a current healthcare worker to get in, but I have no clue if that's actually true, and I don't know how the TEAS test score and essay and so on play into it. Another thing I was told is that they take the top 100 applicants on basis of GPA (and TEAS? Dunno) and look at their applications individually. But all of that is just rumor! I really don't know, and have horrible anxiety over my B in anatomy.

I also have horrible anxiety that I screwed up some little detail and they'll throw out my application. 6-8 weeks can't come fast enough!

I know...I cannot count how many times I checked and double-checked that I had everything in. Unfortunately I have a B in one class, too...ugh! But I am taking a different class I can use for Sac State...whew!

The next few months are going to be fuuuuuun...the whirlwind of putting out apps followed by the anxiety of waiting! Make sure you keep us posted on where you get in!

hi everyone, well i am really interested in the nursing program here, i just need to have my pre reqs...the deadline is oct 31 here, and right now my gpa is 3.0 acck i know.

so i was told by the community college here, that while waiting to hear about the nursing program, and that there is a waiting list, to just go ahead and take the pre reqs. i want the bsn though, and i was wondering if i just get the a.s in health studies, is that enough, to apply to a four year? i just dont know the best route yet..but i know my goal, and that is to become an rn. i would like to be a peds rn.

i am not to smart when it comes to math, but i am willing to work my butt off, as well as meet with a tutor...can anyone tell me how hard the nursing career truly is? i have fibro and am nerous that maybe my body wont be able to handle it..and i hope not bc i have looked into so much about healthcare, and something keeps telling me to go with nursing:loveya::p

yaaa spring 09 is my deadline to apply...i cant wait!

Can I just scream for a minute!!!!!!!

This whole application process is a nightmare. OK, granted...I am trying to pull everything together within a 2-4 week timeframe, but wow! I have been scrambling around pretty much all day today trying to get organized, get assessment tests scheduled, get my CPR class scheduled and on top of all that, ATI deleted one of my TEAS tests!!!!!

The good news is, I was able to get it straightened out...and at least now I know what a mini heart attack feels like.

I feel better now....thanks!

I take it you're applying to Sierra College, too? The random CPR class prior to application requirement is so annoying!

If all goes right, the CPR class on the 22nd should get me the card in enough time to make that deadline, but I'm not even sure it's worth applying there since they take total GPA as part of the consideration. However, my husband points out that the Sutter program is likely to take a lot of the competition, so I guess it isn't completely pointless.

Uhhhhh, we don't get the card that day????? Gulp. I am taking it on the 27th, right before my first anthropology exam. Gonna be a fun day. I'm hoping they give us something to show we passed...if not, then I guess I'll just have one less thing to do for Sac State or Sutter...right?

Your husband has a good point. I was just thinking today that if everyone just applied to ONE program, there would probably be a lot fewer applicants at each college.

On top of all my wackiness today, I had to switch calendars...the one I've been using is just too small...too much to do!!!!! And to think, this is only the beginning:eek:
