Spring 09 Hopefuls

I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!

Where are you applying?

Depends on where you're taking it, I guess. When I took CPR five years ago, it took them at least a week or two to mail the card (though I suspect it would have been possible to arrange something with the instructor if I'd needed it after). The place I'm planning to take it said that we can pick the cards up a week after the class, which will be just in time for the Oct. 1. deadline. So check and see.

If you need to switch and want to know where I'm taking it, PM me. As of the other day, there was still space available.

We have to have CPR before acceptance at my school as well. It isn't uncommon. We also have to test out prior to acceptance on Medical Math and Medical Terminology. They offer an online course, but advise you to self-study. Thankfully, I have until November/December for all of that. Prior to turning in your app all you need is a TABE test.

I have gone ahead and scheduled my physical, had my transcripts transferred and am trying to squeeze in the dentist, Does anyone else have to have a complete dental exam as well? Oh, and I already started applying for my financial aid. Ironic since I haven't even turned in my app yet.

All the schools around here require CPR prior to starting the program. This particular one requires it prior to even applying, though - you have to include a photocopy of your card as part of the application. I believe they are the only school in our metro area with this requirement for applying.

3.6 Overall....B.S. degree(which they included)

Didn't have to take TEAS due to BS degree

If I don't get in for Jan, then will apply to local CC(Germanna) for Fall 09

deadline is Feb 1st. Also, will apply to George Mason Accelerated BSN program for Fall 09....although cost of program is a problem....

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? I have 17 points and a 3.64. (I'm told the cutoff has been 17 points for the last few semesters.)

When is your schools deadline? Sept 19 - I turned in my application today!

When does the acceptance letters go out? I was told today that it would be 4 to 6 weeks after the deadline. So, sometime in mid to late October.

What is your plan A, B, C...? If I don't get in this semester, I think I will get in next semester. I'll have another point or two by then.

A. If southwest, RN first. Then, apply for RN-BSN program. Then, appy for DNP program. I am going to work part-time after getting RN.

B. If memphis, BSN first. Then apply for MSN-NP or DNP. I will work part-time after getting BSN

hi, i'm new here, just joined today. i applied to Wayne County Community College here in Det. Mi. gpa is 3.55, last day to apply is Sept.30th 2008, there is no point system. they go by gpa in prereq. net scores, essay, ref.letters and background ckecks, they recently started giving priority to in-district students. my backup plan would be to crawl under a hole and sleep forever the waiting is horrible, but having found this site is saving my sanity. prayers to everyone applying for the spring of jan. 2009

I am applying at John A Logan community college.

My GPA is 3.4? I havent checked in little bit..not the highest it could be!

Nursing pre entrance exams are starting this month al the way through Feb. I am soo soo soo nervouse about the entrance exam..any help or advice would be very much appreciated. :)

Acceptance letters I believe go out sometime in march of 09?.. Not sure.

My plan right now is take my my "first attempt" exam that is scheduled for Oct. 22. Once again I sure could use any help, pointers, websites,etc. ANYTHING. !!!!!

I am just anticippating this so much, i just wish it was this time next year and I am successfully in the program. I dont know which way to tunr if i dont get in!.. No plan B yet i guess! I look forward to talking with anyone!!!!!!! Open to anything!!

congratulations jamaica:yeah::yeah:what school are u attending and in what city. i'm still waiting (applied for spring 09 also) we won't know until about the end of october or early november. what are u doing 2 celebrate? by the way, i'm waiting to here from wcccd here in det.
