Metric system conversions..need I say more?
if your going from mililiter to deciliter try this if you want to go Larger you move the decimal Left if you want to go smalleR then you move the decimal Right OR since mili is 10 to the -3 and deci is 10 to the -1 you move it 2 spots to the left...hope this helps

Is Chem really a necessary prereq for Anatomy?
i know its just that it must be nice for others that are my age that dont have to work because their parents do everything for them and i am pretty much on my own as far as work and school. its kind of fustrating but in the end i know that i have better work ethic and can handle alot of responsibility

Fall 09 hopefuls?
I am applying to APU School of Nursing in hopes to come out with my BSN in approx 2 and 1/2 years My current GPA is like 2.9 it dropped because i slacked off in spring 08 but i need a 3.0 to get into my NS My deadline to apply for fall 2009 is end of january You can only get accepted by completing all the pre-req. I believe the NS takes "courses in progress" i am pretty sure (hell they better because i am not waiting any longer!!!!) so since i am doing anatomy and organic chem in spring 2009 and physio in summer and i think the second summer session i will take biochem or micro or something, so i should know after that. i do not have a plan b bcause nursing was my plan b and for c...i will die....jk try again of course!!!

Is Chem really a necessary prereq for Anatomy?
thank God that someone is working fulltime (a non-mom or anything) that is doing pre-req/NS while working i read like alot of posts from people who dont work (again moms dont count) while in school and like i would like to find people who are around my age that have to work fulltime or close to fulltime (actually NEED to work) that are doing NS too. i am and i work a job that is only M-F and so when i start to do clinicals i dont know what i am going to do... i need the money for bills and stuff but i need the classes too... oh what to do!?!

Is Chem really a necessary prereq for Anatomy?
yes that is true though but since i wont be starting the program until NEXT fall, i hav spring to do organic and anatomy summer session 1 to do physio and if i want summer session 2 to do biochem or micro so i mean i do need organic, anatomy, and physio before i start the program i am not into rushing but it just gets really fustrating because i want to start the program but cant because of pre-reqs!!!!

Is Chem really a necessary prereq for Anatomy?
yeah i mean at least your school is only RECOMMENDING it! i have freakin pre-req to my nursing pre-req!!! i mean its already hard enough to fit in all those darn pre-req just TO GET INTO the nursing program. i am going to take organic chem and its lab and anatomy and its lab all in one semester but it is ridiculous! the nursing program at my school only lets you take a few pre-req while your in the program so i mean its that is one good thing, but having pre-req to my nursing program pre-req are just downright stupid....anyone facing this too?

I Got A Scholarship
i totally understand! i will be like a gazillion dollars in debt when i get out too
-
I Got A Scholarship
yeah because of BOOKS! up that like almost a $1,000 a year!! and uh-ahem school supplies too it all adds up!
-
I Got A Scholarship
no its a special scholarship from APU itself. on pell grants or state grants i dont qualify. i just got the denial letter apparently i am not smart enough but i am poor but not poor enough to receive one. so thanks anyway but i wont ever obtain that sort of grant EVER! so i mean i got a special scholarship and its $4,000 tuition for a year but it only covers a 1/6 worth of my tuition a year. to go to APU for a year its like $24,000 not including summer. so i mean i am going to see what else i can get i mean there are alot of scholarships out there but i mean for the amount of work you have to put in (interviews, essays, etc...) i mean put all that time and effort into something that your 99.9% chance not to get its pretty pointless. that is ok i can put all that time and effort into studies and work... student loans is fine for me!

I Got A Scholarship
omg i am sooooooooo happy right now. i just got a scholarship! its only $4,000 and its renewable every year and i was selected! even though the $4,000 only covers like 1/6 of my tuition a year but thats ok because some money is better than NO MONEY! it just makes me happy because i could really use some help financially from my school because i am putting all my money out to help my sick mom and my autistic brother. so this really help! Thank the Lord he has blest me with this!

New To nursing - Fastest way to become an RN
if you have them done then WAY TO GO! :w00t: well then you should just about be able to into any RN program, if your GPA is cool then go for whichever option best applies to you you can be an LVN then go to an RN program or go straight and get an nursing diploma/cert. or ADN and get your RN instead of getting an LVN or go straight and get a BSN and then an RN those are the only ways i can think of so whichever best fits your needs then do so anymore questions IM me

CSU or CC for Pre Nursing Program
ok i know EXACTLY how you feel! i had tried going to a CC actually pasadena city college and found out that i could not start the program until 2010! oh Lord golly! so i decided to go to APU and i currently attend there. its private and really expensive but the program isnt impacted and you get to do 1/2 the pre-req while your doing classes (but obvisously before the major classes!) so i mean most CC's in our area (i live in SO CAL too) and they are either doing lotteries with a point system or just randomly picking people depending on grades, GPA, pre-req grades and everything. they are the impacted ones because they are the cheapest and easiest to get into so i mean if your going to pay the money to go to a CSU then you might as well go to one that has a nursing program in it (make sure its a freshman program, not a bridge program[ RN- BSN ] like CSUF does, because those programs require an current RN license) so i hope this helps you out and good luck update this forum to see if you found anything!

New To nursing - Fastest way to become an RN
yes that is one choice but you have many choices to get to an RN! 1. you go get your LVN (mostly at CC's) then you go into a LVN-RN brigde program at a university 2. you can go straight to an RN by going to get a nursing cert/diploma, or ADN at (most likely a CC too) and then if you want go get your BSN 3. go straight to a university and get your BSN and then take the board of nursing exam and you become an RN (thats what i am currently doing) there are endless options it just depends on your time and where you are and where you want to go just choices what you think is best! GOOD LUCK!
