  1. I agree you can't force anyone to do anything. Then again, she should not be a CNA since doesn't want to do things within her job description. She amazingly never gives the nurses who have more time on a difficult time at all.
  2. Thanks for all the answers. She was sitting in a chair reading, so no she was not busy. I feel like I don't know how to tell her without sounding like a *****! When I went back and she argued the second time, I told her I would like her to put the patient back to bed she argued and said if she had to bring her back out then she was going to keep her out longer this next time and I told her No, I am the Nurse. I just feel like I don't know exactly what to say! Any extra advice would be appreciated!
  3. I have started about a month ago at a LTC facility. Everyone on day shift and evening shift were great. I get on nights and it's a whole different story. The CNA's sleep and are disrespectful! I asked a CNA the other day to put a patient to bed and she gave me an attitude and said no! I gave her time to cool off and then asked her again which her attitude was even bigger and she told me she would not and if the patient would wake up again she was going to leave her out longer this time. I know this is because I am a new nurse, but how do you deal with these situations the first time? Thanks!
  4. Ok, I need help with a problem. My SIL asked me to help her and I am stumped. I guess this is what happens when you leave nursing school! Amoxicillin 100mg/m2 ( I think this is supposed to be mg/ml?) in 2000ml NS over 90 min. Pt ht is 68 inches and weighs 81.8 kg. Available as Amox 2mg/ml. a. What is pt's BSA...I have this What is the total dose of amoxicillin...I am assuming 50mg...am I correct? I don't want to sound like a dummy, but this seems to simple for the complexity of her problem. Thank you in advance!
  5. The good pop up says "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." It left out the part about contacting the Member board. I told her I think she passed since it didn't allow her to go through to the cc page, but I was unsure. Thanks again!
  6. Hi everyone, I passed my boards in June, but I did the PVT for my friend who took it today. She got the good pop-up except for the part that says please contact your Member Board. Is this something new on Pearson? Thanks in advance!
  7. I currently have my ADN in Nursing with a B.S. in Public Health. With all the talk I have been hearing of needing your BSN do I need to get it since I already have a B.S.? A side note, I am planning on getting my MSN, but probably 5 years. Thanks for the help.
  8. Thank you everyone! For me it was this semester, the was just so much info all at once (we did advanced med surg and peds). So happy to almost be there, I've waited so long for this!!
  9. I did it!! I am finally going into my last semester!! We had our final on Tuesday and they took forever to post the grades, by forever I mean 48 hours and I passed!! I can't believe it, just one more semester of this!!
  10. This seems to clear that up. I wish I could remember the other questions. I will get a book, I have Lippincott, but there are no Priority ones in there. Thanks for the help!
  11. well we are not allowed to keep our exams only just review them so I do not remember the questions off hand. I remember one was a 12 yr old with expiratory wheezes and then 4 month old with vomiting. The other two were easily eliminated. I picked the wheezes, even though I know asthma always produces exp. Wheezes I went with it bc it was an airway issue and it was wrong
  12. We just had our midterm. I am in my senior year and I did pretty well on it. The only questions I struggled on were which pt do I see first. I tried following ABC's and that ended me up in the wrong room! How do I get a better grasp on this?
  13. I think it's a great idea, just be wary of what you write. If I were to blog about my last CI not only would I never have had time to study because I would have been there venting, but she would have dragged me by my ear to the Dean's Office I am sure
  14. I am entering my last year as well and I still get nervous. NS is stressful. You are forced to learn a HUGE amount of information in such a small amount of time. I remember the first week I cried and was so stressed out, probably more than I have ever been in my entire life, but as things went along, it got a little better, not easier, but better. You will get the hang of things, develop a routine and find positive people, even if they are your family, if it weren't for my husband, I don't know what I'd do!
