  1. Becker College

Has anyone graduated from or is anyone currently attending Becker College? Any advice? Thanks!
  2. CNA disrespecting new grad.

I have started about a month ago at a LTC facility. Everyone on day shift and evening shift were great. I get on nights and it's a whole different story. The CNA's sleep and are disrespectful! I asked a CNA the other day to put a patient to bed and s...
  3. CNA disrespecting new grad.

I agree you can't force anyone to do anything. Then again, she should not be a CNA since doesn't want to do things within her job description. She amazingly never gives the nurses who have more time on a difficult time at all.
  4. CNA disrespecting new grad.

Thanks for all the answers. She was sitting in a chair reading, so no she was not busy. I feel like I don't know how to tell her without sounding like a *****! When I went back and she argued the second time, I told her I would like her to put the pa...
  5. The Nursing Math Thread

Ok, I need help with a problem. My SIL asked me to help her and I am stumped. I guess this is what happens when you leave nursing school! Amoxicillin 100mg/m2 ( I think this is supposed to be mg/ml?) in 2000ml NS over 90 min. Pt ht is 68 inches and w...

  7. Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

The good pop up says "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." It left out the part about contacting the Member board. I told her I think she passed since it didn't allow h...
  8. Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

Hi everyone, I passed my boards in June, but I did the PVT for my friend who took it today. She got the good pop-up except for the part that says please contact your Member Board. Is this something new on Pearson? Thanks in advance!
  9. Do I really need my BSN?

I currently have my ADN in Nursing with a B.S. in Public Health. With all the talk I have been hearing of needing your BSN do I need to get it since I already have a B.S.? A side note, I am planning on getting my MSN, but probably 5 years. Thanks for...
  10. I did it!! I am finally going into my last semester!! We had our final on Tuesday and they took forever to post the grades, by forever I mean 48 hours and I passed!! I can't believe it, just one more semester of this!!
  11. A light at the end of the tunnel!

Thank you everyone! For me it was this semester, the was just so much info all at once (we did advanced med surg and peds). So happy to almost be there, I've waited so long for this!!
  12. Prioritizing! Help!

We just had our midterm. I am in my senior year and I did pretty well on it. The only questions I struggled on were which pt do I see first. I tried following ABC's and that ended me up in the wrong room! How do I get a better grasp on this?
  13. Prioritizing! Help!

This seems to clear that up. I wish I could remember the other questions. I will get a book, I have Lippincott, but there are no Priority ones in there. Thanks for the help!
  14. Prioritizing! Help!

well we are not allowed to keep our exams only just review them so I do not remember the questions off hand. I remember one was a 12 yr old with expiratory wheezes and then 4 month old with vomiting. The other two were easily eliminated. I picked th...
  15. CO2

Ok so quick question I know CO2 usually is about 21-33 for a venous blood draw. Is someone with a 19 an issue? If so, what would would be the possible causes in an otherwisehealthy 26 y/o pt? Thx
  16. I think it's a great idea, just be wary of what you write. If I were to blog about my last CI not only would I never have had time to study because I would have been there venting, but she would have dragged me by my ear to the Dean's Office I am sur...
  17. I needs some advice!!

I am entering my last year as well and I still get nervous. NS is stressful. You are forced to learn a HUGE amount of information in such a small amount of time. I remember the first week I cried and was so stressed out, probably more than I have eve...
  18. I too am like some of you guys. Within an hour sometimes I am sleeping on my books. I don't think it helps that I am laying in my comfy bed either or reading for hours at a time sometimes.
  19. Swimming is such a great exercise and I never find time to do it, even in the summer! It is very relaxing, so relaxing, I'd probably fall asleep on my books afterwards! :chuckle
  20. Having lost that weight you know you can avoid those tempting unhealthy foods, just have a healthy alternative with you. I have lso weight during NS not gained. Make it a priority to make smart decisions, plan ahead and stay active. It can be done wi...
  21. I find that I have to work out in some form whether it be running or weight lifting or yoga to keep my sanity. I am going into my third semester and I think you need to find something that relieves your stress, plus it will make you feel better about...
  22. Pre-Reading?

I am going into my last year and with the syllabus, I have read about 10 chapters or so. I read about one a week. I did it for my piece of mind. I didn't overexert myself, do I think it was necessary, probably not, but it made me feel a little better...
  23. Freaking Out

I feel like I am in your same boat. I am entering my final year and I feel like I hardly know anything. Sometimes I feel like the simplest things I should remember, I have to look up again to refresh my memory. I pray this is all normal and hope that...
  24. Abusive and Cruel Clinical Instructors: Why??

My last CI was a nightmare for all of us but one student. Everything we did she picked apart. Pre-conference she came in slammed down her papers and basically told us how crappy we were. I am not sure how I made it through the semester with her ridin...
  25. Ok, so sometimes I feel like there are so many things to remember, but what are the things you look at when you walk into a patient's room? Are there any little checklists you can have that are beneficial, I guess I am more of a list person and like ...
