Another update from me. While I was applying to the DE-MSN program, I was also on the waitlist for a Master's program that would allow me to gain admission into medical school once completed (my original intended path). Two weeks ago I got the call from the admission office that I was off the waitlist for this Master's program. So I have gone over to the darkside and will be pursuing that path. Hopefully you all will still let me hang out her occasionally :)

I ended up getting a last miute call off a waiting list for my top choice program....I am going over to the dark side and pursing a career as a physician. Hopefully this will give my spot to someone else on the waitlist.

I took Abnormal Psych years after I had taken Gen Psych and I had no problems. The general stuff is covered in review (the first few chapters) and the rest of the material focuses on specific diagnoses in DSM. It was a very interesting class, and by the end I was convinced I had at least one or two of the diagnoses in the book

I think the volunteering would be helpful as well. Try to get in an area where you will get to see patients (a lot of volunteer positions do not involve any patient contact duties). I ended up in the ER and I love it. I get to help people and also get a chance to talk to the nurses when things are slow. Volunteering is the quickest way to show that you have an ongoing commitment to the health care field which is what these programs will want to see.

As someone who used to tutor chem ages ago, these are the ones that my students seemed to have the most difficulty with: Solutions a) Methods of expressing concentration, molarity, molality, normality, osmolality, ppm Solutions of Electrolytes and Acids/Bases g) ‘pH, pOH, Ka, pKa, Buffers ) Ksp REDOX a) Definitions (here just remember LEO GER {loss of electrons = oxidation, gain of electrons = reduction} ) b) Balancing

If you feel like you are not learning anything from him or he is too unstructured for your likes then I would switch to the online version if I could. If it is still open,you should be allowed to still switch and register (at my school you can register through the end of the first week of classes). If you need a permit you can simply say that your learning style is different from his teaching style or something along those lines. IMHO, A&P is absolutely something you need a good solid foundation in. As my A&P prof put it years ago, "You have to understand normal so that when you see abnormal it sticks out like a sore thumb". It sounds like if you stayed in this class you would essentially be teaching yourself anyway, so the online class should not be much different for you. Sorryto hear you got such a stinky prof

I know Rush here in Chicago offers both a Full and Part time NP program in various specialities. As far as tuition assistance/reimbursement I think it completely depends n the employer and what you want. My friend is taking pre-reqs to gain admission to an ADN program and works for the hospital here. She opted for the 1200/semester reimbursement which is under what she has in expenses since she usually only takes 2 classes at a time. The same hospital also offers full tuition reimbursement for some degrees but you have to agree to work for them for 5 yrs after you have your degree and they can move you to any hospital in the system during that time. I can only really speak for this area though, things may be entirely different in your area. Your best bet would be to talk to the HR dept of the hospital you want to work at and ask them what their tuition reimbursement policy is for people pursuing APDs. Best wishes.

My advice as a former chem tutor is this: - Get help now. Sign up for tutoring now at your college's tutoring center and have it in place. You may not need it the first week but you can always start working on math problems now since you know going in that they will be a challenge for you. - Work as many problems as you can. You will most likely have problems assigned to do, do more than those problems. DO as many as you can get your hands on from as many sources as you can. - Take one section at a time. Work on understanding what is going on in this section, do not worry about the math or the problems from the next section...focus on the one you are working on and keep plugging ahead one section at a time. - Do not be afraid to go to your professor if you are having trouble understanding things. They are often more than willing to answer questions from students in their office during office hours. - Find a study partner. Try making friends with someone and study together. You can fee doff of one another. But perhaps most importantly.....Go in with a positive mindset. Do not go in thinking "I can't do this" or "I will never understand". You will surprise yourself by how much you know. Best wishes

That too. I usually do fairly well on a test so I often feel uncomfortable telling people who are stating their grade to me who are proud of their grade that I did better. I hate to bring someone else who studied as hard as they did and performed the best that they did that I did better. I usually try to defer the "What grade did you get?" with the "I did the best I could and I am satisfied with my score"

1. I have an Olympus DS-2 digital recorder. 2. It has a total record time of just under 23 hrs (yes I said HOURS). Sound Quality is excellent, picks up sound well even at back of room, not too much static when record/playback. It has 5 folders, so I can organize different classes into different folders. 3. I would highly reccomend it to anyone!! 4. The recorder records in DSS but the software for the computer has a conversion to WAV so that makes things easier.
