can anyone else recommend any home care agencies? And are they all paying per visit in NC? This is different for me. I'll be moving from CT and I'm paid hourly.

Ok here is a question. I am a RN thinking of relocating from Connecticut. I have 2 years hospital experience and 1 year home care (which I love) My question is what realistic salary can I expect. I make 32.50 an hour in home care and when I left the hospital I was making 30.00. Can anyone give me a realistic idea of what salary to expect in either position so I can know what to expect. Thank you.

Matt Just finished the second semester and let me tell you the OB content is ridiculous. Our first lecture alone had 218 slides and that was just on pregnancy. When you combine pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum I believe we had over 1000 slides and that was exam 1. Ouch!! Anywho glad you made it through we lost about 30 in our first year I think. Not bad for a class of 160. Everyone enjoy your summer give your brain a break I'm headed to 3rd semester and I've heard horror stories about that as well . Matt how did the seniors due finding jobs? I think our seniors did better than the previous year hopefully thats a sign of things picking up!

no I actually decided on capital. I'm in my second semester. Capital was closer and they gave me a scholarship so it was the better choice for me. Congrats to you ladybug on getting in.

Hi wannabe. It took them along time to send out notifications to some people last year. Thats just the way they do things I guess. Some people had gotten notice that they got in, waitlisted, or rejected long before I got my acceptance. I was actually sure I didn't get in after a while but I did so stay positive. You'll find out soon. :)

If I am not mistaken the waitlist is program wide. When your number comes up you may be offered a spot at whatever school has an opening. Thats what we were told last year anyway. Maybe things have changed... Congrats to everyone who got in... Capital students prepare yourself.. The program is difficult and very intense. Especially your first 8 weeks with labs and lecture. Enjoy your summer. Seriously relax don't even think about school this summer. Ooops there is the med calc exam that you have to self study for over the summer.... Besides that though relax and don't think of school..:)

Oh yeah. I tried the livescribe pen. I got tons of feedback and the recording quality was very poor. I do have a rather large class and we are in an auditorium so that may have contributed to the poor quality. In the end I traded it in for a 50.00 recorder which I rarely have a chance to listen to. My best piece of technology is my ipod touch. I downloaded a flash card application and I take that Ipod with me wherever I go...

Hi I'm in my second semester at Capital and we have clinicals tuesday and wednesdays from 7-1:30pm. So I don't think you will be getting twice as much clinical time as the CC. We start of in the lab for the first couple of weeks but then we are in our sites twice a week for the remainder of the semester.. It was the same way last semester also. I am sure everyone is getting about the same amount of clinical time... Ok back to studying... Good luck everyone.

you know you're in nursing school when..... in one week you can pass a med calc exam, foley validation, iv validation, and take the first exam which covered at least 200 pages of labor and delivery. Right before you try to relax... your remember about the online pharm class that you have an exam for next week....

1. Flashcards are huge. You can't critical think if you don't know concepts and terms. I use Iflipr and put the flashcards on my ipod touch and take theme everywhere. 2. Study groups. Small works better for me. One of my instructors put it great. When your teaching someone else the material you are learning also. They also motivate you when you don't feel like studying 3. Read before class. Just the powerpoints didn't work for me, we have instructors who were good for testing on material from one of those little boxes in the chapter that wasn't mentioned anywhere on the powerpoints. 4. NCLEX or my nursing lab questions. 5. Take notes as you read. I was barely passing after the first three exams. After I got my study routine down..... My average shot up. You really have to find what works and stick to it...

Mine is risk for impaired skin integrity r/t excessive time spent in one spot studying.

activity intolerance???

Ok is it just me? When I go home from clinicals all I wanna do is talk about the new stuff I learned. My family and friends now just refuse to listen to me. I'm totally excited to say I saw a the insertion of a ng tube, or a patient with a stoma and all colostomy bag, or a real life sterile dressing change. At this point they usually stick their fingers in their ears and sing la la la la la or they just walk away!!! Makes me glad to have this site to run to.

Only in nursing school can your clinical instructor show up 1 hour and twenty minutes late and 1. we wait for instead of leaving 2. we call her at home and woke her up 3. have her make us stay 1 hour and twenty minutes late to make sure we actually got our clinical hours!!!

I don't believe the point of this post was for anyone to voice their personal oppinion about someone's choices to have a piercing. My school has a no piercing policy. Just 1 pair of studs and wedding rings. My tongue piercing is still pretty new so I wear a clear retainer. No one has ever noticed it. As a matter of fact.. sometimes I look in the mirror and think it has fallen out.
