  1. Hi there. If a patient or their family asks you to pray with them/for them, what do you say if you don't believe/have a religion/don't believe in prayer? Would it be considered offensive if you say no? Thanks
  2. I am in my first semester of Nursing - doing the common semester, which I think is like the pre-reqs i hear everyone on here talking about. My question is, when I start nursing and clinical placements, will i have to remove my piercings? Particularly, ears, nose, tongue Thanks
  3. ciel blue!! :)
  4. Hi all. Just wondering what the minimum gap between each dose is for the other. I've had two already (one month apart), and am hoping in a month my blood work will show up that I am already immune, for nursing school (but would still get the third dose at a later date, just right now it won't fit into the time frame of what I've been told). Is there any way to get it faster? I was told first dose, a month later second dose, and third dose six months after the first, then blood test a month after that Thanks
  5. I'm 18 and in my first semester :)
  6. Great thanks. I'd been getting so worried about what I would do next semester. I'll still get the third shot, but just hoping the screening would show as positive earlier
  7. Thanks I haven't had any vaccinations either (until I started nursing school. Now I've had MMR, and 2 Hep B). My mum never believed in it. I would never get my children vaccinated, but at my university (in New Zealand), we have to be immune to a number of illnesses/diseases to be able to do clinical placements. They do have a waiver, however I was told that the DHBs won't let you do placements without immunity, and although I dont believe in them, I figured it would just be easier to get them. When people say I needed to be immunised to be safe, I get so angry! Especially because my first immune blood screening showed I was immune to many of the illnesses that I had never caught!!
  8. Hi there, Hope this is the right area to post my question. So, I need to be immune to hepatitis B before I start my clinical placements. I have alreay had 2 doses, and my third is due late February 2010. Then wait a month to get immune screening so late March. My semester starts at the beginning of February, and the university needs results by end of 2009. If I got the blood test after the second dose, would it show up that I am immune in my blood test? I still will get the third dose, but I don't want to have to wait a semester before I can start my clinicals, so was hoping it would show up on my screening after only two. Thanks :)
  9. I never realised how much science knowledge nurses have to have. I always imagined it as an easy job...how i was wrong!!
  10. Here in New Zealand 1.0 is considered full times, and then 0.800 would be considered 80% of full time hours etc...
  11. Hey. I'm currently a student nurse in New Zealand. As far as I know, we don't do "accelerated" nursing programmes...the only accelerated programmes I can think of is midwifery, if you're already a nurse, or teaching, if you already have a degree. Sorry
  12. I'm not from near you, from New Zealand. Doing a BHsc (Nursing) and we get 1500 clinical hours before graduation, for a 3 year degree. It's supposed to be pretty important around here and Australia on how many hours u have had
  13. I am able to get an ancestry visa, which allows me to live and work in the UK for five years, so that's no problem
  14. Wanting to come from New Zealand. Are there any agencies I can use to help me find a job. Preferably in London
  15. Hi there. I want to become a nurse in the UK once I have completed my degree programme here in New Zealand. What are the requirements? My course is a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing). It is 3 years long, with 1500 clinical placement hourse. Do I have to work in New Zealand first, or can I be a new graduate coming straight out of University to the UK? Any help would be appreciated...I really want to do this!! Thanks
