Pediatric CCRN study tips
Does anyone have recommendations on study materials to help pass the pediatric CCRN exam?? I bought the AACN practice questions, and wondering if I should buy their course prep as well? A lot of the popular CCRN study materials I've been seeing are specifically for the adult exam, so not sure where to start. Thanks in advance!!

Also for those waiting on the NICU, I know someone was offered a position yesterday so hopefully you all should be hearing your answers soon as well! ??

They didn’t say unfortunately... There wasn’t much information in the email. I’ve heard from someone who works at LPCH that they normally offer around 6 positions between the PICU and CVICU (I don’t think that includes float). I hope everyone hears back soon! ❤️

Thank you!! ? Yes it was just an email offer. They said they'd call next week with the verbal offer and more details.

I haven’t heard anything either! She told our group we would hear back sometime this week, so I’m guessing it can be as late as Friday until we hear back from critical care...

Received mine too, it just says for the critical care units! I've heard from people who have interviewed in the past that the panel you interview with will have one member from each of the units (PICU, CVICU, and NICU for critical care) and that you can be interviewing for multiple units at once.

Hi! I just found this thread, thanks for starting this ? I applied to the PICU and CVICU. I know it's only the first day of interview notifications but has anyone received a call yet?? Also, does anyone know if we will receive an email if we aren't selected?

SFSU ELM-A Spring 2018
Hi Kelleykristina, I am currently in the ELM-A program. My undergrad GPA was pretty low, around 3.0 but I took a bunch of prereqs at community college afterwards and got my last 60 units up to around 3.7. I honestly think they really value experience, so I would try to work or at least volunteer in the medical field. As for what classes, I just looked at all the schools I wanted to apply to and started taking prerequisite classes that would fulfill all the different requirements the schools had (anthropology, speech, developmental psych, etc.) I don't know what the lowest GPA was, but the good thing is that they really do only look at your last 60 units, so just keep adding on those classes. Good luck! ?

ELM-A SFSU 2020 Applicants
Hey Haron717, I'm actually in the ELM-A program right now at SFSU. I was also so confused when I was applying but allnurses really helped with the process. So the standard ELM is a 3 year long program with summers off. ELM-A is condensed into two years, with summers being quite busy. You can apply to both programs but ELM-A applications are due earlier, so I say if your prereqs are done to apply to this program! Word of caution though, the accelerated program is more expensive and you don't get regular student benefits that you do with the ELM program like free gym entry or bus rides, since it's technically through the college of extended learning. But I think to be done a year earlier is totally worth it. Good luck ?
