Spring 2017 Chat

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?

I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.

My schedule is:

A&P II

Microbio

Federal Government

World Religions

The last two are online.

Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.

I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!

So I've had 5 exams (and 3 quizzes) within the last 10 days. Yay... haha But scores are in!

-Micro lecture exam: 113%

-Micro lab exam: 95%

-A&P lecture exam: 98%

-A&P lab exam: 97%

-Chem exam: 105%

I love science! haha :)

Wow! Congrats on such impressive scores. That is amazing. What was your study techniques? These are very impressive. I hope to pull a high A in my Micro class this semester. So far so good. I apply to my program in May for fall cohort. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get in for this fall, if not I will apply for January cohort in September. I'm applying to both RN and LPN programs and to multiple campuses . My cc has like 33 campuses throughout the state. My plan is to apply to as many as I can to have a better chance.

Thank you so much! Hopefully I can keep it up. As far as study techniques go though, I usually just study the night before an exam or even the morning of and I'm good to go. lol I retain very easily just by being in class and generally understand the concepts the first time they're taught to me, especially in science and math. Tbh, school has always been easy for me. And both of my parents and my sister have gifted levels of intelligence. But I really like what I'm learning right now too though so that definitely helps! :D

Woohoo, I got into my second choice Nursing Program for this Fall! I'm still waiting on my first choice and hoping that I get accepted there as well. It's just relieving knowing that I will begin the Nursing Program at one of two schools come this Fall!

I am amazed you are able to retain that much information in such a short time. That's awesome! Me on the other hand, I have to study at least a week up until the exam, and even then I have not retained all the information lol. I mean I couldn't believe we went through maybe 5 or 6 pages of notes this past Monday, so not only did we learn a lot of information, we did a great deal of writing. In my instructor's class, she don't use powerpointz , she makes us write out our notes. In one day we finished chemistry so reactants, hydrophobic/lipophilic and hydrophilic/lipophobic as well as simple/complex carbs, fatty acids etc. Again great job on your impressive exam scores, keep up the great work!

Congrats to you! Hopefully you will get your first choice as I know nursing is quite competive everywhere, so for us applying to the nursing programs to get in a program of our choice is a major deal. I have 33 campuses and maybe 14 regions within my cc so I have many options should I not get into my choice of program. I plan to apply to as many as possible to have a better shot. Nursing school will be a journey in itself so I am preparing myself now. Great job!

That's fantastic! Way to go! I can't wait until it's application time for me :)

Yesterday was A&P II lab exam over the cardiovascular system. The tests are pretty hard - it's a practical with 65 questions, you have 60 minutes and it's all fill in the blank (no word bank) and spelling counts. I felt pretty good walking out of there though, so I hope I did alright.

I also had a essay "test" for Government yesterday over elections and voting issues, I'm glad that's behind me.

Hope everyone is doing well! I have a manic day today, wish me luck ;)

Do you know your grade for the lab exam? That sounds pretty hard. We have a lab quiz every week, but luckily spelling isn't counted against us if she can understand what we meant lol. I'm so nervous for our lab practical/final. Since it's an 8 week course our professor is only giving us one practical, but it'll be the first time I do that so I'm nervous.

On the other hand, I'm doing pretty good in lecture. I got a 97 on my first exam, 88 on the second, & 96 on my third. We've only got one more exam and then our final! I'm loving it though, anatomy is so interesting and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting an A in the class.

I got a 94 on my Chem exam! Whoot! It was curved, however. I'm curious to know what I'd have gotten without the curve

Not yet, I'll find out either late tomorrow night on in class on Wednesday. I'll post my grade here though.

I just met with my advisor and he informed me that I'll be graduating this May, instead of December, like I assumed. It's crazy to think that the first part of my journey is almost over! I went ahead and applied for graduation so I'm all set to have my Associate's of Science in Biology May 10th :)

Yeah that's what I was thinking .. micro and a&p together !? Those are heavy courses! There Is no way could have took them together and passed while maintaining my sanity!!
