Thanks Horseshoe for letting me know about my double thread. I tried to edit the first thread and thought I could just delete the first thread and post the edited thread. Also thank you for your condolences. Everyone has helped me to see the positive side of this sad time in my life. I will continue to seek out positive people that can help me to see that losing a close relative is hard but finding a way to cope with the loss in a healthy way is what is important.

Yes Rose_Queen, my grandparents are both gone and the hardest part is knowing I can no longer see her or hear her. I will sure take that advice and see a therapist because unless I find a way to deal with her passing I may struggle to go forward which I want more than anything to reach my goals. All the support on here is helping me. I know talking to others helps most importantly seeking professional help is crucial in moving forward. Thanks again Rose_Queen.

Thanks so much for you sincere words, I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Good for you for being able to stay strong through it all. It isthe hardest thing I've gone through because I felt like she was all I had in my life. When I am walking somewhere or if I am not around others it begins to really set in as if I can't let go which death is a hard process to intake. I do have to keep moving forward because nursing is going to allow me to help others. My grandma had stage 4 lung cancer and because of her weakened immune system the chemotherapy and radiation made her health deteriorate faster. It is just so hard at times I feel like like I am stuck in one or more areas of the grieving process and I just need to reach the acceptance stage so I can continue on my journey through nursing school and help others to regain an optimal level health. Hello future nursing students, current nursing students and nurses. I know no one can offer medical advice but I am in need of reassurance. I just lost my grandmother who had raised me and my brother in August. She was just 71, yes it maybe that she lived 71 years but I am just struggling with the grieving process of her passing. I keep thinking of how she was 7 or 8 years ago as opposed to the last year she was alive. My grandfather passed in 2006 and I can't come to realize my grandmother only lived 11 years after his passing. I cry all the time and I even get angry at times. I feel like I cant get to the acceptance stage of grieving. I am an LPN student in my second quarter of the program and I am concerned I will continue to struggle with the loss of my grandmother, therefore it will be hard to get through the rest of nursing school. Has anyone ever been in this situation and if so how did you cope so you could be successful in nursing school and in your nursing career. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also I am doing very well academically. I have all As this quarter and earned a B in Fundamentals last quarter. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I know there have been times I wanted to give up because I never thought I would be successful until my actual first quarter of nursing school. My LPN program is accelerated. It is 15 months which is about the time it should take to become an LPN. Of course my transfer credits have really helped or will help. My entire program length is 95 quarter hours. So instead of us doing 9-12 semester hours I am doing 4 classes which each class is 4-6 quarter hours. In reality I am doing 16-24 quarter hours which is alot. I have 5 classes that transferred in from my other school which has decreased my total hours needing to graduate from 95 to 75.

Sorry , for the confusion I meant my classes are 12 weeks long so I have 5 quarters which my program is 15 months. I will be in the second quarter January 2nd it ends in April. I am expected to graduate in May of 2019. My quarters are 12 weeks. Our school don't do semesters so for every 12 week quarter we are in lab the first 6 weeks practicing skills then we go out to the nursing facilities such as the hospital or long-term care facilities the last 6 weeks of the quarter.I hope this cleared it up for you.

Thank you for the response , I am about to take my last exam before the final exam which is comprehensive so it has been moving fast as I only have 3 weeks after Thanksgiving break. My program is 12 weeks long and it's amazing how different nursing school is from doing the pre reqs. There is only 23 students in my cohort and what's great about it is they can teach me the hands on/skills part since they are all CNAs and many of my classmates have not been in school for sometime so as my instructors have said I have one of the highest grades in class. I have an 83% now and we have t the exam Monday and our final plus our projects and other homework to turn in. So I guess seeing myself progress more and more gives me the motivation to keep at it even though I know it's gonna get more challenging.

I have not posted on AN in a long time. For those pursuing nursing, I just want to say keep at it whether your in the program or doing pre reqs. I struggled for several years trying to get into nursing school and I am soon to finish my first quarter of an LPN program. I wanted the RN program, but since I have no healthcare experience it is at least a start. I plan to work in either the hospital as a tech or a LTC facility once I pass my Fundamentals class. I will say that nursing school is a different learning experience then when I did my pre reqs. I am feeling confident that I will make it through the program and pass my NCLEX. I have noticed with exams in nursing school they allow you to develop or improve critical thinking. There is an excessive amount of material covered in lecture and lab/clinicals. It's a great feeling to know I can apply what I learn in class to real life situations. We have a teaching project due in 2 weeks and I already feel confident about delivering my presentation. Yes nursing school challenging at times but my instructor always tells us if you want something bad enough you will stop at nothing from reaching your desired goals. The key for lab/clinicals is practice every chance you get and you will get better and the key to lecture material is study and review PowerPoints, textbook material, practice doing NCLEX type questions as often as you can. I just wanted anyone devoted to getting into nursing school or those already in nursing school with struggles keep going!

Hello fellow nursing and pre nursing students. I am excited to say thatvi will be starting a nursing program in August. I will be attending a non for profit private university. Its a great school. They are expensive, however they offer many scholarships such as transfer scholarships, based on gpa, nursing scholarships for those automatically accepted into the program. I will be accepted as a nursing student not pre nursing transferring from my cc because I will have all my pre and co reqs for their program completed. I will have 3 gen ed courses that need taken am wondering if I should take while in program or take first semester as a pre nursing then I will go into nursing with nothing but nursing courses. The classes are Pathophysiology, Lifespan Development and a Religion course. Those are the only 3 classes besides nursing I need in the school I am transferring to. My first semester would be Pathophysiology, Fundamentals, Fundamentals Clinical, Med/Surgical, Med/Surgical Clinical. My question is does this sound to intense for first semester of nursing or should I take the last 3 classes I mentioned above before entering the nursing program. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

I think for me it was feeling rushed. I am not good at the timed tests so I am working on that to overcome my challenge. I feel if I was given more time I would do better.But with the TEAS that's not possible so I am trying to figure out my weak areas so I can do better next time.

Yeah I fear to share on here because I didn't do well. I ended up with a 56% didn't pass. I got in everything went well what I though but I was shocked when I got the results. I struggled with it IMO. I think it is because I struggle with timed tests. When I took the practice tests in the manual and online I scored way higher. I thought I would of done really well in my science as I had a lot of time left but that I scored lower in. I'm very upset about it. I have a hard time taking timed tests. I know I can only take it one more time then I must wait 2 years. If that's the case I will get my CNA certification and work for a while and gain experience then take the test again. It sucks but I don't know what to do. I want nursing. I know that is a very low score I scored basic I need a proficient. I looked at what I missed in each section and I plan to study hardware the next 30 days on the topics I missed. Good luck to those attempting the teas their first and second time. I am set to take my teas tommorrow . I am applying to Fort Wayne and I may apply to others that are within distance. I was thinking Southbend, Logansport, and Kokomo campuses. If I don't get in for fall I plan to apply for next spring. I am very concerned because I have 30/60 pre req points so even if I do well on the teas my score will not be high enough. If anything I will retake 1 or 2 classes to get an A. Mainly A&P since I have a C in that. I will know more tomorrow once I finish the test and get my test results. If anything I will also apply to the LPN program in the spring and bridge over to the RN. I am finishing Microbiology now and still need Advanced Physiology. I have a B in Microbiology now. I know if I were to retake A&P I would have 50/60 points and my teas points. Good luck to everyone applying.

Wow congrats on a great score that is just fantastic to see! I studied for a good 2 months and now Wednesday is the day I take my test. I feel confident, I really did a lot of math problems especially getting comfortable with word problems and how to set up equations.I have also practiced metric conversions as I know this will be important in the nursing program. In Reading I basically got a good grasp of Topic/theme/main idea/ supporting details what sources to use to locate certain information thesaurus/almanac/dictionary/table of contents How to draw conclusions from the passage English is a no brainer, though I did brush up on certain things such as run-on sentences, dependent/independent clauses, direct/indirect statements , noun/verb agreement and mainly punctuation semicolons,colons, commas etc Finally science I didn't need to study much basically looked over A&P notes learning the different systems, so I touched up on the Anatomy part and Physiology for each system and looked at YouTube videos like Khans Academy and Nurse Academy on chemistry. Thanks again for providing your results that is a fantastic score!

Wow thanks Iloveorchids days still counting down and this has greatly taken the stress off me. As I am great with alkaline metals, alkaline earth metals, noble gases, etc. I am good with polar and nonpolar molecules the basics of atoms, molecules, electrons, protons neutrons all of their charges and atomic number and mass and as you said volume and mass.
