SPC Spring 2021 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!

Hmmm, have you started on your acceptance steps already? They might not switch students until certain steps have been completed such as the background check and or drug screening just incase? That's just my thinking because mine cleared the other day and they switched my status yesterday or the day before. All of this makes me anxious LOL. I have to remind myself it's only Nov and we don't start until Jan haha.

Girl, I’m  feeling the same LOL. I just got back my background check so I have to go upload it. I did the drug test yesterday so waiting on those results. My finger prints I did along with my background so I don’t if there is a separate result for that. Physical I just did today but still have to flu vaccine. I think I’m making progress LOL I’m just impatient LOL

Maybe I’m overwhelmed right now and that’s messing with my common sense LOL but castle branch is confusing me. Will my fingerprint and drug test get automatically uploaded or do we have to manually upload our results ourselves? I’ve tried talking to an advisor but their appointments are all booked ?

I thought we had to upload them but maybe I’m confused. When I get home I’ll recheck instructions.

Okay, so maybe when your results are in from your background check they will update your status in MYSPC. If it updates lmk because there is on day class full and one evening full so I'm just curious. You don't have to upload it yet. The results are automatically sent to CastleBranch. When you get both results back (Drug & Background) like --------------------- stated then we upload them for our clinical requirements. If that makes sense? Yes, girl you are on it! LOL I feel you. It's all exciting and overwhelming. My focus has totally shifted.

Oh okay! Thanks guys! I got my fingerprint and drug test on Monday but I haven’t gotten my results back yet! Only my background check.

Hi everyone, I’m late to the party LOL. Last time I joined the fall 2020 post only to find out I didn’t get in. I was heartbroken and a advisor recommended I reapply for fall 2021 and retake Micro Lab and Enc 1 to improve my GPA. So I’m currently in those classes however, I was told I probably wasn’t going to get in Spring 2021. So I honestly forgot to check my school email and when my friend asked me about I checked and was so surprised I found out I got in. I’m excited, shocked, nervous LOL but I’m definitely looking forward to meeting you all at orientation.

What a wonderful surprise to find in your email! I am so happy for you, and I am looking forward to meeting you and everyone else! ?

Hello all,

There are two approved ways of creating a special area for your cohort on this site.

One: create a facebook page.  The link is allowed, per the Terms of Service.

Two: create a "club" for your cohort by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page.  Then follow directions to Create A Club, in the green bar at the top of the page.

References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.

Thank you, and we wish you success in your Nursing program!

That is a smart idea. That way you can look at all of your options and weigh the pros and cons. That's awesome! My coworker who went through EAYL said it was the best decision he made and he loved the experience. It also gives you job security post graduation LOL. To my knowledge (if you are unaware) you're eligible for EAYL as long as you've been employed w/ BayCare for at least 6 months and are in good standing with them during those 6 months.

Also, if you still need the names for good professors I can private message you the ones I recommend again since they prefer us not to post names for the public to see out of security.

Yeah it's pretty great. From what I understand, it's a 2-yr contract you have to sign up front to work after graduation. And with BayCare, new grad nurses start as a Nurse Resident which is a yr-long program that automatically phases you into the entry-level nurse position (Clinical Nurse I).

Actually I was able to copy down the professors you recommended before they censored it but thank you so much!

@Julia Zelaya wow! Congratulations hun welcome aboard ?that is truly amazing!
 I’m so late to everything

@AngusBeef I am going to get a Littman

@everyone I can’t wait to meet you all!! LOL ☺️

That's a great opportunity! I hope it all works out for you.

Oh good, I'm glad you got the names. ?

How is everyone doing/feeling? Since our acceptance letters went out my focus has totally shifted to Nursing and I'm counting down the days for Fall semester to be over LOL.... Has anyone started supply shopping yet? I'm waiting to buy textbooks and the skills kit until after orientation, but I'm looking forward to getting my hands on those.

I am working on the list.  How do I get the ATI signature page?  I just got blood drawn for titer.  Some of this stuff, will it be explained during orientation?  Anybody know?

Hey,

So our CastleBranch assignments aren't due until January 8th, so some of these things we won't be able to complete until January or next month. I don't know if you printed it or not, but on the CastleBranch form  (the one attached to our acceptance letters) it tells you how to and when each clinical assignment will be completed. Some of them we have to wait to complete until we are assigned instructors and they give us the forms we need to sign and upload. A couple of the steps we will be able to complete when we buy textbooks and the skills kit. I think the HEC advisor will go over that during orientation though. I recommend revisiting the CastleBranch form to get a little more clarification. ?
