Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!
In MYSPC has any of your MyAcademics page changed? Mine has been switched to nursing and has the nursing classes on there. It doesn't show if I'm in days, evenings, or what clinical site, etc. Just that I'm in nursing, but a couple of the Spring L1 classes already have students enrolled, so I was just wondering. Maybe they're working on our schedules?

A lot of nursing students and nurses I know get the 3M classic III as well and love it. I've seen a few people with the MDF stethoscope too and say it's good quality. If you search on Allnurses there are a few forums I've seen where they share what stethoscopes are good too.
Good luck on your journey! I wish you the best.
Thank you both for taking the time to give me your input! And fingers crossed on being one of the next!!

Keep in mind that SPC has the EAYL program with BayCare so some of those spots that are showing already as enrolled may be from that...
Correct, but BayCare's EAYL program has their own cohort separate from ours and there is a limited number of seats available.
I don't believe they do because technically the class wouldn't be available to us because it is exclusive for the EAYL program students. Their application process is different from ours, they have to do interviews and such with their BayCare hospital. Someone from their EAYL picks who gets in, whereas we apply and it's completely based on our GPA's and we never interact with the person who picks us. I'm not 100% sure on how everything works, but from what I have been told from an advisor and a co-worker who attended the EAYL RN through BayCare, they are technically separate from us. They have a different orientation and schedule as well.
Are you considering doing the EAYL with BayCare?

Mine hasn’t changed. I keep checking to see when mine goes to nursing status.

That is a smart idea. That way you can look at all of your options and weigh the pros and cons. That's awesome! My coworker who went through EAYL said it was the best decision he made and he loved the experience. It also gives you job security post graduation LOL. To my knowledge (if you are unaware) you're eligible for EAYL as long as you've been employed w/ BayCare for at least 6 months and are in good standing with them during those 6 months.
Also, if you still need the names for good professors I can private message you the ones I recommend again since they prefer us not to post names for the public to see out of security.

Hmmm, have you started on your acceptance steps already? They might not switch students until certain steps have been completed such as the background check and or drug screening just incase? That's just my thinking because mine cleared the other day and they switched my status yesterday or the day before. All of this makes me anxious LOL. I have to remind myself it's only Nov and we don't start until Jan haha.
Maybe I’m overwhelmed right now and that’s messing with my common sense LOL but castle branch is confusing me. Will my fingerprint and drug test get automatically uploaded or do we have to manually upload our results ourselves? I’ve tried talking to an advisor but their appointments are all booked ?

I have my drug test and background screening already completed, and it actually got uploaded for me! I think we have to download the documents that got uploaded for us then re-upload it to the background check And drug test results tab under the Clinical requirements tab.

So happy you're here to join us!? Yes, I was just too anxious about everything and didn't want to risk losing my spot due to not having everything in on time. I have everything minus my physical and flu shot done which I get this Thurs. So I'm patiently, but impatiently waiting for orientation. Ahh, totally understandable why you want days LOL. I hope you get days! We are allowed to put our preference of days or evenings only. Clinical site and instructors are assigned by the school. They will tell us at Orientation our placements and if we are in days or nights I believe. All of the professors have pretty good reviews, so I'm sure we will all have a good experience.
