Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!

Hi Kari! Nice to meet you hun! I am very excited I too am currently finishing Stats, Micro and Micro Lecture I’m waiting to see what my GPA will be once I finish the courses this week. I plan to apply once I am finish to start for January 2021 (Fingers crossed) I am very excited but also kind of iffy! I am due to have my daughter in two weeks and I don’t know if January is too soon to be in nursing school (she’ll be five months) I am undecided on Spring or fall ??? talk to you soon and good luck!

Nice to meet you both. My name is Tiana and I will also be applying to SPC for Spring 2021. I have finished all required classes, putting my program GPA at 3.678 or 3.7 if rounded. I am also Pinellas county resident. Good luck to you both.

@Qua973 Congratulations! I think at 5 months old, Spring will be a perfect entry for you.

Nice to meet you Tiana! WOW! congratulations honey I think we all have a good chance of being accepted!! Can’t wait to meet you in the program ?

Hi Tiana! Nice to meet you too! I hope you finished out the semester well! CONGRATS on your new baby! I don't have any kids, so I am no help with advice on that. But I can say that I am all for supporting my fellow students and would love to help with studying and anything else to help make things easier for classmates. So, if we end up starting together, or if you start later, I would be willing to have baby friendly study sessions! My mom became a nurse while my sister was a baby and I was 8, I remember she would have her friends over for study sessions and I would help with my sister and even read them flash cards now and then. I know some other moms who went through the program, and they either had familial support, or supported each other! Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best luck! ❤️

Oops, I just realized I replied to two separate messages in one, LOL. My message to Tiana should have been, good job on finishing out strong! I think that you have a great chance at the program! I finished out the Summer semester with all A's. My program GPA is 3.73 and I have all the required courses, so I should have 67 (67.3 if they include decimals) out of the 70 possible points. Fingers crossed for all of us! I am retaking A&P 1 Lab during the fall just in case I don't get in for Spring semester. I had a horrible professor and my husband passed away at the start of that course and I obviously missed class to be with him in hospice and the funeral and the professor was very new and didn't respond to communication. I was unable to get the material I needed and had to catch up. On top of that, he had some other issues and most of the students in our course were reaching out to the dean of science trying to get help for us because we all felt we were not learning anything and unable to pass his quizzes. I finished his course with a C, and I knew the material. So, I am retaking it because I just don't accept that C LOL. Good luck everyone! I am always here to chat!

Hi Kari,

Aww thank you so much! My mother is a nurse as well but I was so young when she became one I don’t remember it at all LOL. The support from both of you is very helpful!! And I finished the semester with As so my program GPA is a 3.866. I really look forward to getting close with both of you so we can be successful in the program!

Hi Kari! Good luck on your plans! I have finished my prerequisites. My GPA came up 3.84, but I can see that the necessary GPA is 3.91.

Hi everyone! I'm Marissa. I will be applying with all my prerequisites done with a 3.533 GPA. I know my GPA isn't the highest but I haven't had the easiest year so I take it with a grain of salt. I got a B in Speech and in Anatomy 1, and then a C in Stats. I'm really hoping to get in! I wonder because of classes going online if the GPA competition is gonna rise or lower due to people not being used to online classes. Good luck to everyone!

Good luck Marissa! Hope you get in!

@treatpeoplewithkindness hello and congratulations! Good luck to you hun! Nice to meet you and we shall meet soon in the program ? you’ve got this!

@Tetyana Dimarova hi hun congratulations on your GPA and good luck you’ve got this! If you don’t mind me asking where did you see the necessary 3.91? I’ve never heard of that one

Hello Everyone. So I applied as soon as I finished AnP2 in Summer. My program GPA looks good, sorta. I am currently in Micro Lecture/Lab. I have A's in everything but Psych and Comp, I have B's. I have a feeling I will have to wait until I take those two classes over. I think I will apply also at Hillsborough Community College. Is anyone else doing that? I live in Pinellas. My overall GPA right now 3.65, my program GPA will be 3.8 (if I pull an A in Micro), Currently without it is 3.78. I asked the advisor if I should retake Comp and Psychology in Summer and get an A, but she told me not to worry about it. I don't mind taking the classes over, so I may have to wait a semester. I already have a bachelors degree and a masters, so going to school feels like a way of life to me, it will take as long as it will take. I wish everyone good luck. The whole experience does feel a little like Hunger Games, "May the odds be ever in your favor" LOL ?
