Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!
I would lookup online the AHA (American Heart Association) CPR certification and see what you can find in your area. I don't have much information to offer for that because I am certified through my hospital and they use AHA to certify us. I just know it has to be through AHA. If I remember correctly, on our acceptance letter form where it has names and numbers listed, they added AHA CPR certification info.

So our CastleBranch assignments aren't due until January 8th, so some of these things we won't be able to complete until January or next month. I don't know if you printed it or not, but on the CastleBranch form (the one attached to our acceptance letters) it tells you how to and when each clinical assignment will be completed. Some of them we have to wait to complete until we are assigned instructors and they give us the forms we need to sign and upload. A couple of the steps we will be able to complete when we buy textbooks and the skills kit. I think the HEC advisor will go over that during orientation though. I recommend revisiting the CastleBranch form to get a little more clarification. ?
Thank you, that cleared a lot up. I went back to the attachments and looked there at the student instructions, duh. I was just going by the castle branch and jumping ahead. Thanks again.

You're welcome. I understand! I did the exact same thing. I wanted to get everything done ASAP and was trying to fly through everything on CB in one sitting LOL. Glad I could be of help. I'm interested to see how things go at orientation, but a tad bit sad it's on zoom.

Since our acceptance letters went out my focus has totally shifted to Nursing and I'm counting down the days for Fall semester to be over LOL.... Has anyone started supply shopping yet? I'm waiting to buy textbooks and the skills kit until after orientation, but I'm looking forward to getting my hands on those.
I am feeling the same! Very ready for Fall semester to be done! I've made a list with links to all of the things I want LOL. I ordered shoes, but they were too big so I returned them, and I am searching everywhere to find the same ones in my size!
@MaNixon Hey hun! I am trying to get everything together I felt so behind I was admitted in the hospital last week for Gallstones (Stupid right? LOL) sitting there was running me crazyyyy. I find it ironic that I've never been admitted for anything besides the birth of children and this happens days after accepting my spot LOL...But I'm back and I'm better literally LOL.
I also had a nurse who graduated from spc two years ago I had soo many questions.. So if anyone has any questions about anything in the program I’m sure I asked and I’ll be happy to give the answer she gave me..
I did my drug test/ fingerprints already. I have my physical scheduled for today and my CPR class scheduled for tomorrow. I have yet to start shopping I was going to wait until all of my requirements that I can do are complete

Some of this stuff, will it be explained during orientation? Anybody know? Some of the things will be given the first day of class and I think some during orientation.
I got skill test but need to get titers, TB, CPR thing. Does anyone know where to get CPR/BLS done at? I’m in Palm Harbor but willing to go wherever.
Hi Julia,
BF and I are going to CPR Tampa in Tarpon (I think it's Tarpon, it's on 19) on Thursday at 4:30 for CPR/BLS. I think it was around $84.

I’m doing good! I’ve completed everything that is due on the 16th! I got the first part of the TST test and my physical last Thursday. Friday I’m getting my blood tested. I plan on getting my CPR done at Tampa Bay CPR at the Gulfport location. All these things to get done are almost as stressful as taking the pre reqs LOL

We're almost there, girl! Only 3 weeks left Yahoo. I have some stuff already that some friends and family gifted me, but I have my Amazon ready for some more stuff LOL. I'm trying to hold off until after orientation to buy everything else. What shoes are you looking for? I hope you find them ?.

Oh no! I'm sorry you had that going on. I probably would have been going crazy as well. I'm glad you're back and better LOL. Thankfully you were able to get that taken care of now vs it happening right when we start in January.
That's awesome. I love meeting nurses who went to SPC's program. If I think of anything I'll definitely let you know.
Smart idea! I was gifted some supplies, but I decided that for everything else, I'll try to restrain myself until orientation. I get a little too excited with school shopping so I'm trying to pace myself haha. Also hoping for some holiday sales?.

I'm glad you're doing well! Sweet! It's such a relieving feeling when you check things off the to-do list. Hahaha yes, I was so stressed about getting everything done because I didn't want to lose my spot. I keep checking to make sure I did everything LOL. I am looking forward to orientation and seeing the schedules.
