SPC Spring 2021 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!

I am leaving LTC Care Coordination and probably doing HHA work or move into Mental Health Case Management in the community (flexible schedule).  It is not a lot of time to plan, with having to leave my job for this.  Fingers crossed, thanks for the info.  I might check on hospital work at night and see.

You're welcome ?. HHA is a really good idea! The flexibility and experience is really nice. I used to do home health, so if you would like any recommendations let me know and I will send you a pm with the names. Are you a CNA currently or looking to get your CNA license after semester 1 of the program? I hope you are able to find the proper fit for you job wise in the next couple of months. Don't forget that SPC also has job opportunities for students as well if that's something you might be interested in doing.

@jasonlynn

I don't have facebook, but! I am not opposed to making one in order to stay connected with everyone ?. I'm not sure if you saw this, but on Allnurses there is a similar feature where we can make a "club" type thing for our cohort for Spring 2021. Just wanted to put that out there if you guys are interested in that idea?

Hey another quick question, would any of you be interested in a face book page just for us?  Like the Spring 2021 Nursing students?  I could set one up, and we can recruit everyone, share info, due dates, strategies?

Yes, that’s a good idea

I love it! I don’t have facebook but I’ll find a way. ☺️

Question:

How long did it take any of you all’s background check to come back as complete? I have the view results tab under background but it still says pending once I view into it

Mine arrived on the next day and uploaded automatically.

yes! I wanted to do something like this as well! Wasn't sure if our program allowed it.

Hey all,

On Castlebranch it updated my drug screen as complete and I can view a background check but the final step of the fingerprint section has still not gone green.  I had my fingerprints done on Monday so that should have been plenty of time. Anyone else have the same?

My fingerprints are still pending, I did mine on Tuesday. BF did his on Monday and his are complete in castle branch. I am going to get my drug screen in a few minutes. Was trying to do it sooner, but I may have covid and was waiting for my covid test results before going anywhere. I was afraid to keep waiting. How long after you went for your drug screen did it get uploaded into your account?

? OK now I’m getting worried. I ordered my background check on 11/7 and I just contacted castlebranch and they’re saying I have an estimate completion date of 12/10

I’m having the exact same problem

@Kari Shimer my drug test results were uploaded the next day.

I messaged Castlebranch...they told me the school approves the fingerprints step.  They said there is an out of state county pending on my background check they are still waiting to receive as so that may be why it is not approved yet.  I'm just hoping delays on things like this that are not in our control are acceptable if not done by the end of the day.

So I spoke with (edit) from Student Affairs and she says not too worry! They can see that we initiated the necessary steps prior to 11/16, and that the processing time varies for each student ☺️
