SPC Spring 2021 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!

Is anyone else so excited that they want to buy all the nurse things now, or is it just me? LOL

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far! Can't wait to meet you all!

Girl yes! LOL I had my amazon cart ready?

I am online shopping for shoes. We can have all black, navy, or white. I think I'm going to go traditional nursing and do all white LOL.

I think I’m gonna do white too! Are you gonna get regular sneakers or the clogs? I’m on the fence because I don’t like the clogs but also regular sneakers could get nasty! So I’m not sure!!

Umm, what kind should I be looking at?  Do you two have a preference?

I'm going with all black, white is too risky for me haha. A lot of nurses I work with love the crocs and clogs. I can't wear those. I like the sneaker brand Hoka for my shoes. I've worn them for the past few years for running, work, and school, they are extremely comfortable. St. Pete running company is a great place to get shoes!

Does anyone remember when we find out if we are morning or afternoon?

I have been dreaming about such purchases!!

So I just submitted my schedule preference and I am hooked on afternoon!! I made this my first choice
@jasonlynn I believe we should be hearing either a little bit prior to or during Orientation. We should find out the schedule and clinical site @treatpeoplewithkindness

I am so happy that we all got in!!

I am more of a sneakers person and white is my favorite color LOL. I’ll be leaning towards sneakers white and comfortable. Oh and I think you guys should really look at the nursing clipboard on Amazon it fits in your pocket and will really help with studying I heard and it’s only about $30 ?

Yeah I think I’m gonna go with white sneakers. I’m so excited to pick out my stethoscope! I’ve already signed up to get my physical and shots done! I wanna get all the difficult stuff over with now and leave the fun shopping stuff for later LOL

Speaking of, has anyone thought about which stethoscope they might get? More to the point, has any one considered the Bjorn Hall stethoscope? I've been doing research about equipment that I'd need to get once it's my turn to apply (fingers crossed for next Spring!) and I've been hoping to get more input about this particular item...

I'm curious as to what everyone put as their preference. I chose afternoon because I'm trying to get done ASAP, but I wouldn't be too sad if I got Mornings because a break is never a bad thing to give yourself.

I picked afternoon.  I really hope I get it.  I would have to make some major hard life choices with the job if I get mornings.  And it would mean living that way for a longer time period.  Fingers crossed.  Fingerprint scheduled for Tuesday, drug screen will be next week.  Time to start rolling!

@AngusBeef For my Stethoscope I plan on just getting a  Littman. @Sara Dzierbicki I chose mornings! I feel like having mornings will just help me have a more normal schedule and also I can help my sister watch my niece if she needs me too. I also want the summers off because I’m afraid of burn out.
