SPC Spring 2021 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!

I think I’m gonna do white too! Are you gonna get regular sneakers or the clogs? I’m on the fence because I don’t like the clogs but also regular sneakers could get nasty! So I’m not sure!!

I’m leaning towards sneakers! Going to get some waterproofing spray so they are easier to clean. I’ve tried the clogs on and my foot is too wide. I also have some orthotics to add to sneakers LOL.

Thank you ? You're next! As far as stethoscopes, I think I am going for the 3M Littman cardiology IV. It's a bit of an investment, but I heard it is worth it. A lot of nursing students and nurses I know get the 3M classic III as well and love it. I've seen a few people with the MDF stethoscope too and say it's good quality. If you search on Allnurses there are a few forums I've seen where they share what stethoscopes are good too.

Good luck on your journey! I wish you the best.

I'm curious as to what everyone put as their preference. I chose afternoon because I'm trying to get done ASAP, but I wouldn't be too sad if I got Mornings because a break is never a bad thing to give yourself.

I put evening's as my number 1 preference. I'd prefer not to have summers off and just go straight through the program like I did with my pre-reqs. I don't like having too much time off from school, but if I get mornings I will not complain. I'm grateful I got in. I hope we all get our preferences.

I want afternoons.  I am leaving a job where I make pretty good money.  I want this done sooner than later.

Hi everyone, I’m late to the party LOL. Last time I joined the fall 2020 post only to find out I didn’t get in. I was heartbroken and a advisor recommended I reapply for fall 2021 and retake Micro Lab and Enc 1 to improve my GPA. So I’m currently in those classes however, I was told I probably wasn’t going to get in Spring 2021. So I honestly forgot to check my school email and when my friend asked me about I checked and was so surprised I found out I got in. I’m excited, shocked, nervous LOL but I’m definitely looking forward to meeting you all at orientation.

That’s awesome Julia! Congratulations ? so glad you didn’t wait till next year to apply

Congrats!!! I remember you from the other forum, I was looking for your name actually when this one started. LOL. I'm glad you chose to apply for Spring semester anyway. See you at orientation! Are you hoping for days or evenings? ?

Yes, I remember you as well and Kari. Have you guys started on your list of things to do? I’m hoping for days. With 5 kids it will give me a little of bit of time to deal with them put them in bed and study/do homework afterwards and not be overly exhausted the next day. Do we pick our schedule or will the teacher pick it?

Thank you ?

Purchased the Castle Branch thing, Fingerprints done, drug screen scheduled for this week, Immunization records release mailed off to my state of birth, and my PCP has the health form to complete on our next visit.  I go buy my scrubs this weekend.  Trying to get done with all the costly things we have to do before.    Bitter sweet, I have to leave my great paying job to do this.  So trying to get this stuff out of the way while the paychecks are still decent.  I know what my Christmas list is going to look like this year and next year.  I have told everyone, NCLEX study books, save the receipt incase I get two of the same kind. LOL
