Every so often I'll hear lyrics on songs on the radio that remind me of nursing... Here's a couple of examples I've heard on the radio recently, unfortunately I can't remember who sings either of 'em...:monkeydance:
"I am barely breathing, and I can't find the air..."
"I have become, comfortably numb..."
Anyone got any more?
Alicia Keys "I Am Superwoman"
This is for all the mothers fighting for better days to come
and for all the women sitting here trying to come home before the sun.
All my sisters coming together saying Yes I can, Yes I Will
Because I Am Superwoman
Yes I am, Yes She Is
Even when I'm a mess, still put on my vest with a S on my chest
Oh Yeah I'm a Superwoman.
When I was in Psych training in 1974, there was a man singing " Lean On Me" while we were sitting outside eating. The more we ignored him the louder he got. By the time he got to the end, he told his staff or attendant to go "tell them student nurses to kiss my butt." ( actually he was real good with this song) Now when I hear this song I have to smile.
Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses
Welcome to the jungle
We got fun 'n' games
We got evrything you want
Honey we know the names
We are the people that can find
Whatever you may need
If you got the money honey
We got your disease
I always think of this song when I m having a really bad night and picture the movie Lean on Me where it plays this song
Perfect Circle, orestes,
"give me one more medicated peaceful moment"
Another by Perfect circle, The Nurse Who Loved Me
"she's got everything I need, some pills in a little cup,
Im takin her home with me, all dressed in white,
shes got everythng i need, I can see it in her eyes, she acts just like a nurse...with all the other guys" love that one!
Tom petty, I won"t back down"
I love this thread!
Hot Blooded--Foreigner
I'm hot blooded, check it and see. I got a fever of 103....
Pill--Pink
The nurse is being a little ***** (sing that to myself when my co-workers are on a rampage!)
Thank the Nurse --Country Joe McDonald
Doctors and Physicians diagnose and prescribe.
Surgeons can operate but they don't save your life.
For when the fever's burning, who helps you through the night
Gives you medication and checks your vital signs?
When you wake up in recovery who's right there by your side? With a smile and reassurance, restoring your self-pride.
CHORUS:
Thank the Nurse that's nursing you.
The one that nursed you through.
Thank the Nurse that's nursing you,
For saving your life....for saving your life..
For SAVING YOUR LIFE!
Oh the Doctor is important of that we can't deny.
But when you get down to it, the Nurse keeps you alive.
The one who cleans your body and bandages your wounds.
The one who makes your bed, gives you medicine and food.
Helps you through contractions, until the pain subsides.
Encourage you to make it 'till you hear your baby cry!
CHORUS:
Thank the Nurse that's nursing you.
The one that nursed you through.
Thank the Nurse that's nursing you
For saving your life....for saving your life...
For SAVING YOUR LIFE!
When you're sick and convalescing you're seldom in the mood
To pay attention to the one attending you.
So full of rack and worry you think you'll lose your mind.
You survived the accident but all your friends have died.
When the orderly is sleeping and physician can't be found
No need for apprehension a nurse is making rounds!
CHORUS:
Thank the Nurse that's nursing you.
The one that nursed you through.
Thank the Nurse that's nursing you
For saving your life....for saving your life...
For SAVING YOUR LIFE!

In my previous job I sometimes worked in theatre - OR - one of the CDs frequently played included an oldie Cat Stevens - The first cut is the deepest - always got a smile as the surgeon as about to put knife to skin
