Someone signing "RN" when they are not

I had a friend call today who works at an Assisted Living Center here in town and her supervisor is not a nurse.

The supervisor today signed a doctor's order as John Smith, RN and she does not and has never had a nursing license.

We live in Michigan, and I wondering who she can report this to?

This woman has been investigated before and covered her tracks, but the employee today watched her sign it, made a copy and wants to report her to the State. Where can she report this to so that the correct person investigates the information?

I would say the Michigan state BON would be the first place.

Contact the State Board of Nursing in your State, and if there is a "copy" of that paper be sure to include that along with the forms to fill out.

In Michigan it's the Michigan Department of Community Health, Bureau of Health Professions that adminstrates nursing licenses.

If all else fails, contact the Michigan State Police. I'm sure they'll have some ideas.

Actually, I am not the one who witnessed it. A friend who works as a CNA/Med Tech did and she was asking me what to do, so I posed the question to the lovely people here. :)

Apparently the woman who did this has done it before, got her butt covered the last time by her corporate offices, but this time the friend wants to go directly to the State.

Do not pass go, do not collect $200. People like this really make me mad. I worked so hard to get my licensed and to hear and see about this makes me want to get ill.

If she's misrepresenting herself to sign it, I'd guess he doesn't know he isn't.

You'd think the dr would know who is the non-nursing supervisor at the facility.
