How often do nurses have sex in the hospital?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I read on the forum that while it's forbidden for a nurse to have sex with their patient, I haven't seen anything about having sex with other nurses, doctors, visitors, etc. Does it actually happen as often as it does on TV shows? Not asking whether it's wrong or not, just whether it happens.

I've heard of nurses getting screwed at work.

It's usually when management gives you too many patients when management couldn't be bothered to find a replacement for someone who has called off.

Ok, fine, so it happens, it's just people who've done it probably don't want to talk about it. If even priests make the news with pedophilia scandals, how many of them must have had consensual sex with somebody from their congregation??? And I can't think of a less appropriate (and intimate) environment than that!

I wonder if doctors have more time to go naughty? Okay okay, I'll stop!

Pastors in the United Church of Christ, a liberal Protestant denomination, will face disciplinary procedures, anything from going through counseling to losing their ministerial standing if they have consensual sexual contact with their parishioners. In the state of Minnesota, a licensed pastor from any denomination can go to jail for having sexual contact with a parishioner.

Roman Catholic priests take vows of celibacy so they are not permitted to have sexual contact with anyone, not with consenting adults of either gender and certainly not with children.

Fail.

Fail.

And they certainly FAIL to keep celibate, which was my point

So from what I understand, it's okay for a nurse to have sex with a patient, as long as it's not her/his patient?

If you really believe this, you have a lot of maturing to do.

When I think of all the nurses and docs I respect and admire, people who really care about their patients and their coworkers and have a strong sense of self-respect and appropriate behavior, I can't picture any of them setting aside their dignity and professionalism to grab a quick tickle in the linen closet. And that's just referring to what could happen with a fellow employee. The idea of doing something sexual with a patient reminds me of animals who have no sense of propriety and are basically enslaved by the urges of the moment. The people I work with have a little more self control. Not to mention a pretty full schedule.

That said, I do watch Nurse Jackie. For the surrealism and the laughs. And to watch Zoey, who I'm sure would be scandalized by this entire thread.

Sorry, but...Celibacy is, in its strictest definition, the lifestyle of someone who is and is striving to remain unmarried all his/her life. However, the term is often popularly used to describe a state of life where one chooses to abstain from all sexual activities, which is strictly "continence"."
