Go to askjeeves.com enter nursing resume, they give alot of rubbish to go through, but also some sample resume's that you can get idea's from. the job i just got was an online application but you had to cut and paste your cover letter and resume to it. good luck.
ps- you can find sample cover letters too!
Hi! The book "Resumes for Dummies" is quite helpful. Also, most major office/& computer stores (e.g. Staples, Office Depot, etc.) have computer software specifically to help create a resume (e.g. WinWay Resume Deluxe.) You can choose the style, format, fonts, etc. that you prefer and they have sample resumes for different job categories. Then you just fill in the different areas (i.e. Experience, Education, etc.) with your own personal background....The software also has area for cover letters...
Just remember Tweety, once you've got your resume done, keep it updated regularly. Every job I've ever applied for required one sent before an interview was set up. I've heard that even in-house, managers want to see a recent resume.
Don't forget to include things such as CEUs (I'd just list the total number you have and offer to senda separate list separately if they want the details--don't forget to keep that separate list of credits you've taken), in-services, any kind of education you've done on your own, any awards, certifications, etc. If you've given inservices, list them. If you've provided any kind of educational information other than what's in your normal day for patients, list that.
Make yourself sound good, but don't stretch the truth too much. :)

The RN to BSN course I've been accepting in I noticed requires a resume in our file. Although I've got coreqs to finish and won't have to have a resume for a year, recent work problems made me realize I don't have, nor know how to do a resume.
I've been with this hospital for 13 years and did not give them a resume when I applied. The last resume I did was a brief one right out of nursing school.
Anyway, what's the best way to make a resume. What's the best resource for us nurses to use?
Are resumes necessary, or is the information on job applications enough?
