You don't want to work nights but don't want to work days either? What other options are there? Most of the non bedside positions are usually bankers hours which is a lot of the appeal for some people. Not me but to each their own. If you want to stay 3 12's than look for a day position in the hospital. It's still going to interfere with childcare but it seems more manageable than mon-fri. One of the reasons why I stay nights even though I would love a day position. It just doesn't work well with kid.
Who doesn't? Thanks for the helpful reply.
United Healthcare has positions where u work from home. It is like 9-5. And u get a 1 hour break. So maybe that is the time u can pick up your kids??
Or even though u hate nights. Do u have to stay full time for benefits?? U can always go staff relief. No benefits Make more an hour and work like two 12s
Also what about home health?? Alot of driving but u make ur own hours to see pts??
Download the Indeed app. It is a great resource when looking for a RN position

I currently work as a night shift nurse at a hospital and I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I would like to try another avenue of nursing rather than bedside but not sure what to do. I have about 7 yrs experience in varied acute care areas in the hospital. I have two small children, so the 9-5 M-F deal seems like it would be hard to handle. I am fine working independently. I have considered UM, but I don't have managed care experience, and those seem to be bankers hours. If anybody has any different ideas or experiences please let me know! Also, feel free to just complain about night shift, since I have taken the liberty....
