Sick of night shift

Published

I currently work as a night shift nurse at a hospital and I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I would like to try another avenue of nursing rather than bedside but not sure what to do. I have about 7 yrs experience in varied acute care areas in the hospital. I have two small children, so the 9-5 M-F deal seems like it would be hard to handle. I am fine working independently. I have considered UM, but I don't have managed care experience, and those seem to be bankers hours. If anybody has any different ideas or experiences please let me know! Also, feel free to just complain about night shift, since I have taken the liberty....

I knew someone who was in a similar situation who switched to home health and loved it. She sent her girl to school, worked cases for part of the day, and was home when her girl got home.

Then switch to days. People all over the world work a day job and have kids. Some even work day and night jobs. Nope!

You don't want to work nights but don't want to work days either? What other options are there?
There are weekend double shifts...

For a number of years I worked two 16-hour shifts every Saturday and Sunday from 6:00am to 10:00pm. This enabled me to have five days off in a row in addition to 40 hours of pay per week with full benefits.

I'm sorry... Can you clarify...?

Are you sick of nights? Are you sick of your job?

If you're sick of nights, but don't want to do days either, what is the secret third option?
