I'm scheduled to take NCLEX 7/11 @ 10:45am.
I've done the classroom Kaplan review and about 2000 questions from the Q-Bank/Question Trainer. I haven't been able to get to Kaplan's magic 65%. I range between 50% and 58%. In your opinion, should I go for it or reschedule?

Go for it-the longer the time between test and nursing school, the less you retain. The sooner the better.

The question is, how do you feel?are you psychologically prepared to take the exam? The scores you get don't really matter as long as you know the basic concepts, it's often common sense applied in view of the patient's safety and well-being, of course there is what we call the "NCLEX WORLD" that what we usually practice don't apply.
Just be familiar with the questions and understand the rationale behind it. You should know better yourself if you're ready or not.
How long have you started your review? (I did 2 months of practice questions, 100/day) Have you tried other review materials as well? (I would highly recommend Saunders) Anyway, Good luck in your decision .....

I am iffy on this decision. I was in the same boat, rescheduled for one week later, and felt much much MUCH more comfortable going into the test. I passed with 160 questions.
My reason you may want to re-consider, is because I am assuming your 50-58% is your total score. It is important to get high 50's consistently, or at least 59-60% if you can... for an estimated 94% passing.
What did you get on test 6 and 7? How were your individual category scores in test 7? Are you lower than 52% on ANY of them?

Well, if you did many questions and studied intensely, I say to go for it. I can also say that you need to be mentally ready, and that is hard, because we are all afraid just before the exam. I studied for two and 1/2 months and was so tired of those freaking questions that I knew it was time to try and make a go of it. If you do put it off, try not to do it too long. It gets to the point where you become too distracted with other things out of being tired of looking at the material again and again. Good luck. You are taking it on a lucky day. 7/11 are both lucky numbers and it is my birthday. I'll be thinking of you!

Hi, I don't have much advise for you, but I'm in the same boat.
The past couple of days I started scoring lower on qbank. (I just did 50 new questions and got a 48%....UG!!!) My overall qbank has now dropped to 57%! I test on 7/18. If my scores don't start consitently hitting 60%, I may reschedule.
On the other hand Kaplan is HARD! I score so much higher with other material.
It is more likely than not that you would pass NCLEX if you took it today.
Best of luck and keep me posted on what you decide!

I just wonder if doing too much makes you start to score lower. My brain is getting fried and I'm getting to the point to where it's just "give me the test and get it over with!". I'm sick of doing q's but I'm still doing them daily along with other review material. Hopefully it will be enough. I'm scheduled for the 17th no matter what!
I think the phenomenon of overstudying is real, and your score may suffer as a result.
I honestly think that test 6 and test 7 are the greatest predictors of NCLEX success. I can't recommend enough that you look at your category scores for test 7 and if you get 52-54% or lower in ANY of them, to do the REVIEW OF CONTENT videos for that category (maybe even take notes as you watch them).
After the review of content videos, then do Q-bank questions on those specific categories. Your scores should be 60%+ (up from your low 52-54%) proving that you are doing much better.

i am in the same boat as jessi and just me.. i take boards on 7/17 and i have done those q bank until i am blurry eyed. i am now doing the last 200 i got wrong and i will be done with those by tuesday.. my scores are getting lower and i am loosing interest fast... i am just going to take the darn test and get it over with. either i pass or i don't .. ihope i do because i am sick sick sick or studying. i will pray for us all .. i am doing the test 7 on tuesday one week before boards . my scores range from 54% to 62%.. how i long to just read a normal book before bed and forget this stuff. i read saunders at night and kaplan all day..then pray .. i am doing all i can and i am leaving the rest in Gods hands. hang in there we are almost done.
Thank you everyone for your responses. I took question trainer 6 yesterday and scored 62%. My plan is to take #7 today. Would you all agree that if I get a 60% or better on #7, I should proceed on 7/11?
I found with #6, I did much better if I took frequent breaks. I'm going to try the same strategy with #7. Answer 30 questions then take a break.
Mentally, I'm over all of this. It seems the more time I spend the more nervous I get.

Take the test. You might pass. If you don't, you will have an idea how the whole thing goes so it won't be such a mystery on a retake. Procrastinating has a bad side to it. It feeds upon itself and makes anxiety worse. So, go and take the test. Good luck.

Awesome score! I'd say take the NCLEX if you get a 57% overall and at least 52% in every category!
