I'm starting nursing school in the fall and just wanted to know how much everyone benefited from using the cd-rom's that come with the textbooks.

I'm looking online for the best deals on textbooks and am looking to buy some from amazon.. but buying used means most likely not getting the cd. Is it worth it to buy new? I know how good the cd's are differ from textbook to textbook, I'm just trying to get a general idea.

Thanks!

The books helped me a lot because my teachers pulled questions almost verbatim off of the test books...at least for my psych nursing class....but they help studying the have lots of questions and addition info as well as so have videos with nursing skills on it...I say get the ones with the CDs I'm a advocate of them lol

I found that by using all the tools possible only enhanced the wide range of questions that come your way. Also using the Evolve web site helped alot.

if you look carefully, sometimes you can find them with the CD included

depends on the book like you already said (know), you wont know if the CD is any good unless you have it.

I love the CDs, lots of great review questions, at times the teacher even used the questions from the CD.

My fundamentals and assessment book CDs were worthless. But my med/surg CD was very, very helpful.

Research book reviews and see what others have to say, or contact the company and ask about the CD contents.

I found that I used the Evolve websites much more than the CDs contained with the texts. In a couple of classes, the materials on Evolve and the CD were identical.

One of the CDs that came with a textbook was incompatible with Mac, so I had trouble using it. I can run Windows 7 on my Mac and had to switch over to the dark side ;) when I needed to watch it.

The CDs are a mixed bag: sometimes the CD content is identical to Evolve, sometimes it is not as useful as Evolve, and sometimes it is way better than Evolve. I utilize all the "extras" as much as I can, especially any sort of practice questions, and I've done well in all my classes. So I'd recommend getting the books w/ CDs anyway, just in case it helps. Or you could try and find out what kind of stuff the CD has on it before you decide to get it.

A lot of my books came with CD's and I don't think I used them once

The books come with CD's?

Most of my teachers take their test questions off of the CD's and maybe just change one little part of them. I'd say get the CD's!
