  1. Sorry if that sounds confusing. A friend of mines grandfather passed away recently and she posted about it on Facebook. She is aware he has had health problems that have led up to his passing, and she even visited him when he was at the hospital I work at (but on a different shift), but I don't think she knows that I work there. Am I allowed to post something like 'he was a wonderful person sorry for you're loss' (or something along those lines), when it will be obvious that I have taken care of him as a patient? I know that was long winded. Basically what I am trying to ask, can I acknowledge that I knew who he was?
  2. We work with omnicare also. I know we run into problems a lot when the order says (for example) OxyContin 80mg give one tab PO every 12 hours. Because we stock OxyContin 10mg tabs in the ekit, and the order says to give ONE tab of 80mg and not eight tabs of 10mg we cannot get an auth to take it from the ekit from the pharmacy. However, this is easily fixed by calling the physician and having him write a one time order to give eight 10mg tabs. We are the only unit in our building that has a narcotic ekit so we often run into the situation of not having the specific drug ordered (like morphine or dilaudid). In that case we order the med STAT when they arrive, which takes up to 4 hours to arrive. If they are in a lot of pain before it arrives we can either offer Tylenol, or if we absolutely have to, get the physician to call in an order for something we have out of the ekit.
  3. Sorry, I can't help with the schools you're looking to apply to. I applied to NHTI and GBCC. But I'm posting so you know there is an NH student out there, haha.
  4. Thanks so much! Can you use them as much/as long as you want? Or are there a certain amount of days you can have them?
  5. I'm not quite sure how to use the Evolve resources.. are they free or do you have to pay for them? When I click to use them it adds them to a 'cart'...
  6. I'm starting nursing school in the fall and just wanted to know how much everyone benefited from using the cd-rom's that come with the textbooks. I'm looking online for the best deals on textbooks and am looking to buy some from amazon.. but buying used means most likely not getting the cd. Is it worth it to buy new? I know how good the cd's are differ from textbook to textbook, I'm just trying to get a general idea. Thanks!
  7. When do we get more information? After the deadline for deposits?
  8. GBCC is sending out acceptance letters! Got mine this afternoon! =]
  9. I'll be taking A&P 1 also this fall! For the second time... I got a C first time around and I was NOT happy with that at all. I am currently taking A&P 2 and will be headed back to A&P 1 this fall!
  10. Thank you for the info also! I've been doing some research on the HESI and I heard that the practice books were awful in preparing for the exam. So now I feel like I'm going into the exam blind.
  11. I think I've finally decided what I'm taking next fall! -Microbiology (which is looking kind of scary!) -Repeating A&P 1 again (I got a C the first time, and after getting and email from GBCC, as of fall 2011 they are only accepting a C+ for their "special recommendations") -Human Growth and Development My advisor is not going to be happy with me. It was almost like she wanted me to just PICK a major at UNH because nursing wasn't going to happen. She told me the "worst thing to do" was to stay at UNH another year and just take classes. Oh well! UNH it is.
  12. Thanks guys! I think I'll be taking at least Micro and Human Growth and Development, as well as a few gen eds. I sent emails to both GBCC and NHTI hoping to get something specific back. I tried to get some info from my advisor at UNH but she has no idea what I should do. It also looks like I have to take two different tests; HESI for NHTI and NLN for Great Bay? Yikes!
  13. Thank you all! and yes, what I meant was A&P. What I'm curious about is: are these classes ones that I 100% have to take even before applying? Or ones that would be a good thing to take to get ahead/look better? I know there is a slim chance of getting in anywhere if I haven't taken A&P 1 + 2. Any website I go on doesn't have any specific "pre-requisites" to apply to their program and I've been getting the feeling that these are suggested to take BEFORE I get into a program (hopefully). But then sometimes I come on this site and see people that say, "I've finished my pre-reqs, now I can apply!" Are these classes required to be finished before I even apply or just suggested?
  14. I'm currently a student at UNH and I'm looking to apply to either NHTI or Great Bay for the Fall 2011 nursing program. I did not meet the criteria for the UNH program this year and I missed the application dates for Great Bay and NHTI so I will be spending another year at UNH. I have emailed Great Bay and NHTI about some sort of advising as to what classes I can take at UNH to prepare for their programs, but no one has gotten back to me. I have to sign up for classes for the fall and I'm not sure what I should be taking to prepare and give me a better chance at getting into these programs. I've taken Anatomy 1, Anatomy 2, Nutrition, Psychology, Intro to OT, First-Year English and other various gen. eds. like Intro to Music and Finite Math. To be blunt: What other classes should I take next year? Thank you so much!

I'm applying to UNH's nursing program. I'm already in the school, just transferring to the major. But by the looks of the emails I've been getting, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen!!
