Medcor
@ILoveHorsesRNThank you for your reply! I’ve done a lot of research on these positions and everyone is saying the same thing about micromanagement. That part will be very different from bedside nursing, but hopefully manageable. Thanks again. ?

Medcor
Hello! I see that this board is not very busy, but I’m hoping someone can help me. Is anyone currently working at Medcor on the triage line? How do you like it? What are the shifts like, as in are they 8 hours? How do they run, 11-7, 7-3, etc? Is it still true that things are overly micromanaged? Thanks for your help!

Job outlook in Boston
Hi everyone! I am wondering if you could shed some light on the job market in Boston. Specifically, how likely am I to land a job at one of the major hospitals with the following? I have an ASN and am enrolled in a BSN program, (four courses in), I have 18 months medsurg experience plus 18 months primary care experience. Any insight is helpful!!! :)

Med-Surg to NICU?
Hi nursing friends! I'm hoping those with similar experiences can help me out. I am currently a registered nurse on the med-surg floor at my local community hospital. I have been in nursing for three years, but only in the hospital setting for approx 18 months. Although I love and appreciate all of the experience I have obtained in my current position, I am longing for a change. Med-surg, for me, has always been a means to lead to another specialty down the road. I always thought the specialty I wanted to learn was L&D, however lately I have been drawn to learn more about NICU nursing. Do you feel that I have sufficient experience at this point? How long do you think orientation would be for a nurse with my level of experience? Do you know of any NICU units that allow nurses from other specialties and/or hospitals shadow for a short time in order to see if this unit is a good fit before actually applying for a position? Tips in general? Thanks so much in advance - I appreciate your input and really enjoy reading about others' experiences in the wonderful world of nursing. :)

Super excited!! Start date soon approaching
Congrats on beginning your program soon! And don't let naysayers discourage you! I am about to start my program as well and we homeschool our 8 year old; we also have a 4 year old and 18 month old (my husband has an eye disorder so he is unable to work and does the homeschooling). You can do it!

My bag of struggles.
You are an outwardly upbeat person despite your current situation - you obviously have what it takes and are on the right path. Things will get better and I'm sure many blessings are around the corner! Keep on keepin' on - with God's help you can't go wrong : )

Study/note-taking tips
Thanks for all of the new input! It is all greatly appreciated and well noted. We are allowed to record IF all students are agreeable to it. If not, we have to stop recording when someone asks a question. I feel like it would be so beneficial to record because if I miss something or need to clarify I can go back and replay it. Thanks again : )

Study/note-taking tips
Hello! I am officially a nursing student (actually on 9/4/12) and looking for some study and note-taking tips. I have read a lot of great information on these boards over the years and you all have given some great advice : ) I'm just wondering if anyone has any tried and true methods that work especially well? I will not be working while in school so I will have more time than some. I have a very supportive and helpful husband and three young daughters, so advice from parents would also be helpful. Thanks everyone : )

WMCC or LRCC?
Hi NH nursing students and hopefuls! I was wondering if someone could give me some insight into the acceptance process for Lakes Region Community College and White Mountains Community College. Both schools make their decision (I believe) in February. For anyone who applied to either school, when did you get your decision letter? I've hardly been able to find anything about these schools on here, so I hope someone out there has some information for me! : ))) Thanks!
