Hello everyone! Sharp new grad’s application opened on Monday (2/17). I just wanted to make this so we can all keep each other updated. ?
I had applied for spring 2020, got an interview for ICU, but unfortunately did not get hired. So here I am, round 2! ?
good luck everyone!!
Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to say that I am a nursing student here in SD (supposed to be graduating end of June) that already works in Sharp's SRN as a Nursing Assistant and I was offered the RN extender position yesterday. I precepted at Grossmont too. I sent my application on Monday and had a few back and forth emails before they called yesterday to offer it to me. I don't which day next week I will be training, I'm still waiting for the email with the offer. She also mentioned that the training is in person even with social distancing so they are trying to figure that out as well.
@Xm92 Do you mind sending the application to me as well? Sorry I just checked into this thread. My email is [email protected]
I found out yesterday I was not accepted to the Surge Hiring because I have a temporary CA RN License (I tested in Texas), even though a temp license allows you to practice as an unrestricted RN. My full, not temporary, CA RN License should go through this month but they still wouldn't accept it. Made no sense to me, but oh well!
The recruiter also let me know that the Summer New Grad program is indefinitely postponed with no projected date to resume. She also said it's going to be 100x harder/trickier for us because the Spring cohort was messed up so they'll be the priority.

How is that fair when there have been new grads ready for a while :(

Can you elaborate by what you mean that it is going to be trickier for us? Do you know if they will be hiring any new grads for the surge with a full CA license?
I'm not sure. She said the RN Extender positions were already fully filled by students and thats what I would have fallen under apparently..? She also said they have very strict guidelines as to who they can and cannot hire for the surge with specific requirements. She told me I can try again in a month when I have the full CA license because I do have 6 years hospital experience in a similar field, just not nursing. Sort of seems like they're targeting students or experienced RN's. (she said they would maybe consider my previous experience) but not 100% sure! There has to be a way to utilize new grad RN's with no experience.. so maybe that's coming soon!
When I asked about the New Grad program she was very brief, just mentioned it was indefinitely postponed and sort of laughed when I asked if she had any idea of a new start date. She had no idea. Then just said the Spring cohort is doing virtual learning and their program is kind of all messed up with this so they may be moved ahead of us or merge with the next cohort? It was sort of confusing but she stressed that it just may be harder for us.

Thanks for the information! I greatly appreciate it. If you are interested, Scripps hospital is now looking for volunteers as well!

A little off topic, but I need some help.
Did anyone else apply to the CA Health Corps?
I just got an email asking to complete step 3 and fill out an application.
All the positions seem to require a license or certification. It said nursing students were able to work as nurses without a license through the health corps, but there seems to be no option for students. Anyone know what to do?
Sorry this is not related to sharp, just hoping someone can help
