Sharp New Grad Residency Winter 2010/2011

Hi everyone,

I just applied to Sharp's New Grad Residency Winter 2010/2011. *Fingers, Toes, and Eyes crossed that we get interviews* :clown:

Just wondering if anyone else had some trouble with the online application process. I completed the online application, and SAVED it; however, I noticed that if I wanted to review my entries by clicking on "Online Application," all entries were blank. I also wish that we could view uploaded documents (cover letters and transcript) just so I know that they really do have it on file.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing about any progress with this residency.

Doran-

Congrats! Just out of curiosity, do you have a BSN and experience at Sharp as a tech? Did you go to school in SD?

Thanks :)

@SDNURN - I have a BSN, already passed boards, ACLS, BLS, and graduated from CSUSM. I never have set foot in sharp before, all my clinicals were in the north county. However I did submit my application with in 10 minutes of the job being posted. I heard from them as early as last friday asking me to resubmit my resume b/c it didnt properly attach the first time.

Thanks :)

Well maybe I have a shot as well. The only thing different is I am a old/new grad and I graduated in NC.

Hello everyone and good luck!

I'm a current student that's going to be graduating in May. It would be fantastic if those of you who do get the position post your degree (e.g. BSN) and if you have any current work history in healthcare. I ask this because I currently work there myself, but I'm graduating with an ADN. So I'm quite certain I don't have much of chance. Thanks so much!!! And congrats for almost being done! I can't wait!

Don't sell yourself short because you'll have your ADN. If you think like that, you're already defeated before you even apply. I believe they truly look at the individual. I know that I was chosen over a BSN candidate for my new grad program.

I know of one girl who started the new grad program for Mary Birch last week. But their applications were in August. I never even heard of it. All three girls already worked on the floor at MBH.

Only one worked on the floor at MBH, and the other was a volunteer, and the third was a Sharp Employee but not at MBH. And the New Grad program that was posted in August was ONLY for L&D and they had VERY specific requirements (completion of the Regional Perinatal Course, ACLS and NRP). Of the 100+ applicants, only 7 had met all the requirements.

Doran 002,

How was your phone interview on Friday? I'm sure it went well! Good luck to you! Hope we also get call backs for interviews too!

hi did anybody get a call back from sharp memorial hospital yet?

the phone interview was a little bit odd; the recruiter was transcribing the interview thus i could hear the taps of the keyboard, and she frequently asked me stop, slow down, repeat, summarize what i had just said. WHich kind of messed up the flow of my response or made me feel like i was forgetting something. I felt very unarticulate. However, i dont feel like my repeating myself etc translated over to the actual transcript of the phone interview.

At about 2:45 pm today i did recieve a phone call from the recruiter extending an in person interview to me for this coming friday afternoon :) crossing my fingers i get this... i need to work so soo so bad.

Very nice good luck :)

So I was told Sharp Grossmont ED only has 4 positions...I dont know if any of you have applied there...but it is so dissapointing :(

Thank you for the uplifting comment. I've been trying really hard not to feel already defeated. I am trying to think of ways that I can set myself apart.

I heard the same thing from someone in the ER. I also heard 1600 applicants system wide. To the comment dont sell yourself short bc of a ADN. All the ADNs I see on this site that have jobs seem to have been EMTs, LVNs or something along those lines so in my mind they dont count as having a hard time as ADNs with no medical exp. Its sad but true ADNs are considered junk now if there is a BSN to pick from instead unless you have experience over the BSN or you know someone. This is at least how it is in this area of the country.

I have been talking with another recent grad. We have almost exactly the same experience, (I actually have more) and she has been able to get some interviews probably bc she is a BSN. Unfortunate for her she hasnt landed any of the jobs but at least she is getting interviews. I also have tried everything. I dont just apply to places online and wait.
