SFSU/Canada College BSN Applicant Thread, Fall 2009 Cohort

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello Everybody,

I thought I would make a thread for those of us who will be applying to the SFSU/Canada College BSN program, fall 2009 cohort. Maybe we could share our stats, frustrations, thoughts about the nursing profession, etc.

As for me, I have two prerequisites left to complete. I am taking one right now, and I will take the last one during spring 2009. I anticipate that I will have about a 3.7 GPA in the prerequisite courses.

I have also met two of the supplementary criteria. With as competitive as it is, I know that it's pretty much a coin toss as to whether I get in or not. I'm just hoping for a little luck.

Good luck to all of you.

someone help!

ok so i was getting a letter of rec prepared for the upcoming admissions time. the person that i was supposed to recieve a letter from sent it to sfsu and i didnt realize that she sent it to sfsu school of nursing until today when i spoke to her on the phone. now that i clarified with her, she's sending one again but this time to me so that i can send it to sfsu during applicaiton time.

my question is, what will sfsu do with the 'accidental letter' that was sent to them? i hope they'll just throw it away and forget about it otherwise i'll think they'll keep it and think that i'm one stupid applicant... jeez i feel so screwed :banghead: just as things were going so smoothly...

the only thing i got in the mail today was my pg+e bill =/

Xtine, Sandra Ballance told me they would call.

I just got the official acceptance letter by mail today. If you don't get it today, you should be getting it on Monday.

Hello,

Wow, this thread has been pretty quiet lately. How is everyone doing?

For those who were accepted, have you decided if you are going to attend or not? I haven't heard anything since I was placed on the wait list. I'm still anxiously waiting. :coollook:

hey. i am still on the waitlist. the wait is killing me. i need to know!! sandra ballance told me that it is really unpredictable with the waitlist. they went through about 20 on the waitlist last year which is really high. but the year before they only went through 5 people on the waitlist. so who knows! we will see!!

i also got into USF so thats good but Canada is my first choice..

Hi Katwag,

Congratulations on USF! I hear USF is a great school. Expensive, but really good.

The wait is killing me too. SFSU/Canada College was the only program that I applied to, so if I don't make it in, I'll have to wait until the next cycle. I'm just waiting and trying to stay busy in the meantime. Hopefully enough spots will open up so the both of us will get in.

By the way, do you know how many people are on the wait list?

i think she said 20 were on the waitlist. yeah usf is great. 3 years though and a ton of money!!! but either way i will be happy.

so where did you do your prereqs?

!!!

I just finished my 1st time taking the TEAS test... at SJSU. Not bad actually, super easy. now I'm waiting for my results in a week and doing everything i can to shoot for SFSU still.

Good luck to everyone on the waitlist still. We can all now say that SFSU is officially closed until next semester. Have a great summer to everyone and stay safe! *cough cough swine cough flu cough* ;)

Please help!

Does anyone know if taking Pharmacology @ local JC over the summer is acceptable by SFSU? Don't wanna waste the whole summer, so I am trying to lessen the workload if possible for the first semester in nursing program. Any suggestions? For current SFSU nursing student, please share your experience. Thank you so much!

i doubt that it is equivalent to SFSU.

one, it's at a community college where it's lower division and SFSU's is upper division.

two, you're supposed to take classes according to the mapped curriculum with your fellow classmates who made your same batch in application process.

my best advice for you if you want to take summer school at a community college is to take classes that you need to fulfill in GE areas or take them at SFSU for segment 3 over the summer there. that can really lighten your load.

Katwag,

I finished most of the prerequisites at Pasadena City College a few years ago. I also went to UC Berkeley and San Jose City College, where I am completing my last prerequisite right now. It's great to finally have them all done.

What about you, where did you do yours?

So, a wait list of about 20 people doesn't seem so bad. It's stressful though because we could basically find out anytime between now and the start of classes. I'm totally glued to my cell phone.
