Hello Everybody,
I thought I would make a thread for those of us who will be applying to the SFSU/Canada College BSN program, fall 2009 cohort. Maybe we could share our stats, frustrations, thoughts about the nursing profession, etc.
As for me, I have two prerequisites left to complete. I am taking one right now, and I will take the last one during spring 2009. I anticipate that I will have about a 3.7 GPA in the prerequisite courses.
I have also met two of the supplementary criteria. With as competitive as it is, I know that it's pretty much a coin toss as to whether I get in or not. I'm just hoping for a little luck.
Good luck to all of you.
Hi Katwag,
I wasn't sure how to private message or anything... and my question for you doesn't really belong in this thread soo (sorry everyone else!)
I'm a prenursing student at a cc right now and USF is my first choice for nursing school. :) I wanted to ask if you could tell me the prereqs you took/gpa/extra things/anything else that can help me get into the program..
Thank you!
I'm still anxiously waiting too... Like torasamu, I only applied to "one" school (CCSF doesn't really count for me b/c it's a lottery, & I heard first timers have a very very low success rate of getting in). So, if I don't get in this cycle, I'll be doing this all over again next year (adding a couple of schools though... maybe some NP programs?). If you guys get a call, let me know... I'll do the same. Good luck to the 20 or so of us on the waitlist! We have to hope that SFSU isn't the #1 choice for all the people who got accepted.... yikes!
Hi xtine009, good luck with the wait list. There are at least three of us on here who are wait listed and dying to get in. I hope all of us make it.
If I'm not accepted into this program, I too will apply to a couple more schools during the next application cycle. I'm looking into some entry level masters programs too. I really need to stay in the bay area, so there really aren't a whole lot of choices.
Canada College has always been my first choice though, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Just want to share some info:
Our Orientation date is on: July 20th
If any of you happen to look for Sandra Ballance, she is currently on vacation. According to the lady at her office, she will not be back until a week later.
Does anyone know if we are eligible for taking summer classes @SFSU?

pochacco,
i agree with solidus snake.
most of the pharmacology classes at junior colleges that aren't part of the actual nursing program are for all allied health majors. i took a pharmacology class at canada last semester. most of the students were medical assistants and a few pre-nursing students. i just took it because i wanted to get a head start and didnt want to waste my time while waititng to get into nursing school. although it will definitely not hurt to take pharm, you definitely don't want to take it INSTEAD of your nursing program pharm class because you don't want to miss anything, you know?
