Hello Everybody,
I thought I would make a thread for those of us who will be applying to the SFSU/Canada College BSN program, fall 2009 cohort. Maybe we could share our stats, frustrations, thoughts about the nursing profession, etc.
As for me, I have two prerequisites left to complete. I am taking one right now, and I will take the last one during spring 2009. I anticipate that I will have about a 3.7 GPA in the prerequisite courses.
I have also met two of the supplementary criteria. With as competitive as it is, I know that it's pretty much a coin toss as to whether I get in or not. I'm just hoping for a little luck.
Good luck to all of you.
I just got off the phone with Sandy Ballance - one of the heads of the Accelerated BA Program through SFSU at Canada. According to her, you do NOT need to take SEG III classes if you already have a BA from another school. According to her, 99.9% of the time, the GE breadth requirements that you had to satisfy in order to ascertain your first BA should be tranferrable. This information comes straight from her.
Best,
Ken
Hi, this might not be the right place to ask this, but I'm just starting my pre-requisites at Canada College. The Organic Chemistry class lists CHEM 220 or equivalent for a prereq. I am wondering if CHEM 410 (chemistry for health sciences) is an equivalent -- The next available appointment for counseling is after my registration period and I will also be out of town at that time. Thanks for anyone who can help!
If you simply want to fulfill the chemistry requirement, any of the following is fine.
CHEM 210 General Chemistry I
or
CHEM 192 Elementary Chemistry
or
CHEM 410 Chemistry for Health Sciences
This is only for SFSU. If you plan to apply for other CSU campus, they might have different requirement. Please check with
to make sure.
I just got a message from SFSU nursing office that the letters have been mailed, we should receive them end of this week or beginning of next. The May 1st deadline to accept the admission should be changed since they mailed the letters so late. Sandra Balance had to mail the letters to SFSU who mails them out. I'd call the nursing office at SFSU just to confirm that we won't be late in accepting/declining.
