Senoritis.

I have it bad, and it started only after a week into my final semester. Its way too early in the semester for this. My s/s of senoritis are:

1. It takes every fiber in my being to open up my text book

2. I'm constantly making deals with myself. I.E. If I can just study for 1 more hour I will treat myself to an episode of law and order on netflix.

3. Decrease in overall zealous

4. Anxiety

5. The feeling of just wanting this to be over with.

*** on another note, I'm totally mad at my BF right now. What part of I'm in nursing school don't he understand.

Him: Can I come over tomorrow?

Me: No I have to study

Him: (sigh)

( I wouldn't have been so annoyed if he already didn't ask me the same question twice this week)

Him: Why are you over whelmed?

ME: Um, I wonder why? Maybe because I have an exam in two weeks and such much content to familiarize myself with. :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3: But he is supportive so I'm ever so grateful. :redbeathe

I'm right there with you! I just feel like I don't have the energy anymore to keep this up. Doesn't help that we just started our psych clinical last week. Ugh!! (At least we don't have to go the day before to pick a Pt and then stay up all night to write our usual 15-20 page care plan :))

I don't think anybody but your fellow RN students can understand how overwhelming and stressful RN school is. When I start losing it and complain to my husband, I get "Well, nobody told you to go nursing school. It was your choice." Blah, blah, blah!

Just keep telling yourself that you're almost done. Hang in there and best of luck to you!

Thanks !! You are so right !

This is a great way to get through it. I make deals with myself too and I reward myself everyday and a BIG reward every week. You should check this out.

I'd also like to add that you should be so proud! The nursing program is very difficult and you are almost finished.

:)

I do understand. Last quarter was so hard for me. I admit that I did not pay attention in class because I felt as though it was a total waste. I finished every assignment for the quarter almost a month ahead of time...except for our weekly quizes they would not open. I was WAY PASS DONE with them way before class was over. Again I understand. Good Luck with your final semester!

Ugh. I've had senioritis since I started. :uhoh21:

Thanks !! His theory is very true. I just got finished studying so I'm enjoying my reward of AN, law and order, phone with BF and a smironoff.

Sure! :)

Take it easy on the smirnoff. You gotta study tomorrow. ;)

I'm glad that nursing school is only 4 semesters for me because I don't know how much more I can take either. I'm in my 3rd semester and I think I'm getting into the senioritis mode too. This summer I took 17 hours and it almost killed me! It was so stressful that I thought I was going to go crazy, but I got through it with really good grades considering everything I went through and I'm grateful. It's hard for me to pick up a book now too but I know I have to do it. I'm on allnurses to stall my studying for the night, but I guess I will get up and open this Med-Surg book and learn about KIDNEYS!! (How fun)

I feel the same way, I just started my senior year and I keep procrastinating. This is my break from reading community (very boring btw).

BUT you are almost there!

It is true though only nursing students understand the pain we go through. Everyone I talk to who is not a nursing student does not understand why I am always so stressed, but when I talk to my nursing girls, they understand my pain LOL

community sucks!lol

im trying so hard to keep organized and keep on top of all my assignments and readings..bc if i dont ill just catch up on sleep and price is right LOL!

what i really need to do is study for my med/surg exam I on the 12th meh.. :uhoh3:

I know how you feel. Semester 7 of 8 here and you wouldn't beleive how over it I am right now. I just finished a 12 hour night shift on a Saturday night, with no pay. I have to complete 336 hours of clinical prac this semester and I'm up to 140. I think that 12 hr night shift on Saturday should be classed as double time, so 24hrs

Honestly, I've made the decision to make other areas of my life a priority. I'll finish the program in May and do fine, but I'm not going to put in nearly the effort with assignments that I have before. I've got too much other stuff that I prefer going on in life right now. I am (or was) a career changer, and I've lost interest in making the change. I've got two jobs in my current field, I'm enjoying it again, and I've got a new lady in my life with things going better in that direction than any other one I've ever been with. Nursing just doesn't interest me anymore.
