Seminole State Spring 2012 Generic/Concurrent Applicant

Published

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else is on this website that is applying to the upcoming spring evening term for SSC and if so, what are your thoughts. Are you nervous? I am!

I made a group on FB a a couple weeks ago, there are only 5 members UCF/SSC CONCURRENT C/O2014, but not just for AS

Just scheduled my BLS class for Saturday November 19 from 9-1 at Orlando Medical Institute 6220 S. OBT. Found through heart.org if anyone wants to join me :) www.orlandomedicalinstitute.com

One thing to keep in mind, if they are going to mail your card to you, AHA may take up to 30 days to get your card to you.

I took my course on the 28th and as of today have still not received my card yet. Just wanted to let those know who have not taken their course yet.

thanks Joe, i saw your post on fb ( and the response that the receipt will suffice, thank goodness!) The only reason I waited because I listened to someone else about waiting until the last minute bc of expiration date ( regretting it now!)

Just curious- have any waitlist/alternates been accepted into the concurrent program thus far? I was told I was #1 on the waitlist for concurrent, but I have a feeling that's something a lot of people are being told.

Also, does anyone know at what point in the semester they stop going to the waitlist to add people to the program? I know lots of people drop out during the first week of school, but does that mean they add people from the waitlist that late in the game, or is there a cut-off date before the semester starts?

A girl I know was waitlisted and got in, she just got her acceptance letters for both programs right before Thanksgiving and is getting all of her stuff together. I don't know how long they keep letting people in though.

UCF told me I would not get a call after Dec 12. They also said I was next. Liars, LOL. I have come to terms that I will have to wait until the next round. :)

Well, imagine my surprise when I got a call this morning from UCF saying I was in!!!:lol2: Of course I am freaking out about all the stuff I have to do to catch up with everyone else. I am so excited!

Congrats Dawn! I was hoping that was you on FB, I know this meant a lot to you :)

HI!

I'm planning on applying for Spring 2012 Generic! I finished my prerequisite classes by Fall 2010 (almost a year a ago), with a recalculated GPA of 4.00 :yeah:. My TEAS score was 76.7% (Program 85, National 84).

My worries are those 30 seats :mad:! Is there anything else one can do to boost the possibilities of getting accepted :uhoh3:?

Based on what I read the priorities are:

1- Applicants Concurrent UCF (First 70 seats)

2- Having finished all prereqs and GPA. In order of date finished and GPA.

3- TEAS Score

4- Everything and everyone else

Am I missing something??? :confused: This is so frustrating! :mad:

Hi! I took the TEAS and got a pretty low score so i'm thinking of retaking it next month. Do you know when the deadline is for summer 2012? And how did you recalculate your pre req gpa? My overall gpa is a 3.37 (I screwed up with some classes)

Hey cgriff08! This is my first post to the forums and I originally was going to be applying for the Spring 2012 program at Seminole State but have so many questions that I really don't know if I should or not. I am nervous but I also know for a fact that my prerequisites will not be done in time. I will be in progress at the time of application and am really thinking about cutting back so I dont have to take 5 or 6 classes in one semester, but then of course that would mean I couldn't apply for the Spring program... Ugh...so many decisions to make.

I remember at the Nursing Info Session the UCF advisor mentioned that you should really work on getting your AA at SSC first but that just seems confusing to me since SSC and UCF's pre-reqs are different. I mean, I understand having an AA will automatically guarantee you entrance into a University but doesn't necessarily mean entrance into the UCF's nursing program... I have kept track of the other applicants when they have applied and what they applied with (pre-reqs done, scores, etc) and haven't noticed any particular pattern. I guess it all depends on who applies when you apply.

Like I said....so many questions....lol but either way, good luck!!!

Hey, I am also trying to create a log of Denied vs. Acceptance percentages. I am wondering if this is an endless pursuit like you say it is. To be honest, this whole application process is creeping me out...i'm creeping myself out, rather. Like, why in the elf's name am I tracking logs on a nursing bloggers forum?!! The anxiety towards the acceptance ratio leads me to this site, which in turn exacerbates my anxiety reading everyone elses' concerns/hesitations. And the vicious cycle ensues...

However, I found a common trait in most of the pre-nursing students on this forum; many of us are perfectionists. Only the top 10% of college students in the nation receive average GPA scores in our ballpark. Therefore, one can hypothesize that nurses are the top of the crop!! I cannot wait for the nursing program experience. :)

A=4

B=3

C=2

D=1

F=0

1. For each class calculate- grade you got x # of credits = ? points

2. add all the points of all the pre-reqs and divide by total # of credits you got = GPA
