Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else is on this website that is applying to the upcoming spring evening term for SSC and if so, what are your thoughts. Are you nervous? I am!
nope, straight denied. i was previously unsuccessful in a bsn program and told i could apply as a brand-new student to this program. either no asn-only applicants got in, or i needed a 4.0 and a 100 on my teas, or someone lied to me about how my application would be considered. either way i am pretty upset. i would not have even moved to altamonte springs if i didn't think i was going to get into this program.... (i was living in georgia, could have gone anywhere.)
"we encourage you to continue working on your educational goals and to reapply if you meet our selection criteria."
I have also been accepted into the Concurrent program for Spring! I am having trouble with the immunization form though. I would appreciate any help. I read that someone has scheduled their fit test; but according to this forum https://allnurses.com/fl-nursing-programs/seminole-state-ucf-540061-page16.html, the school schedules it for you. I wrote a e-mail to SSCnursing 2 days ago about it and still haven't got a response. Also, how do I get a AHA BLS card?? Lastly, I called my pediatrician I got my immunizations from and they said they can't fill out the form. I know I could get titers done;but I was just wondering if I have another option.[/quote']
We will have the fit test scheduled within the program. We learn more on that at orientation.
The AHA BLS certification can usually be attained through a local fire department or other city department. It is a 3 - 5 hour course. I am sure that they will provide at least a list of preferred providers at orientation but it couldn't hurt to be proactive and find one on your own. I got lucky because it is included in my first aid class that I am taking this semester.
If your pediatrician will not fill out your forms than you can take your immunization records to another doctor, or your local health department. The records must be transferred to the required forms that include a medical release from a doc. :)
What courses did you guys use for your Humanities credit??? I was told this was the reason I was not accepted, and I was a little surprised considering I have a B.S. degree from a state university. I'm going to be annoyed if I have to take some random humanities course and wait another year to apply, but at least now I feel like my rejection is fixable.....
Booboobear surely you can work something out. I will have issues with this schedule as well and I am kicking myself for not applying last semester if this is what the schedule looks like, but I am not about to give up my seat because it is just too hard to get into. I am sure you can work something out. Don't give up so easily.
Thanks Kirbycruiser. I think I was able to work the schedule out with my job. I can't wait to meet up on Wednesday.
Hello! I had originally been denied acceptance due to my GPA not meeting requirements, but then I realized that they failed to give me credit for grade forgiveness. They are placing me on the waitlist, but now that I see the schedule posted I don't think I will be able to do it. It looks like it's M 12-6p, W 9-7:30p, Th 9-6p, plus clinicals. Seems pretty impossible to hold down a job with this schedule
