Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else is on this website that is applying to the upcoming spring evening term for SSC and if so, what are your thoughts. Are you nervous? I am!
I got accepted into the Concurrent program for Spring and they said I need to take a humanities course at SSC by May 2013 and at UCF one of my areas of study was humanities. They said the course needs to match up perfectly to get credit.
That's so crazy. So now I'll be on track to start...Spring 2014?? How did you manage to get accepted if you were missing the ever-important Humanities credit? It's crazy that university-level humanities isn't good enough to get you into a community college. #frustrated

The nursing program does accept students who have not completed certain courses, but with contingencies that they complete those courses by a certain time. As far as the humanities course goes, I think you said earlier that you were from Georgia? I am not positive on this, so if I am wrong, someone please correct me, but the state of Florida college courses are coded and many of those courses match up especially on key courses which have state and/or federal academic standards, while other courses like humanities course codes, may differ from school to school. I know that quite a few of my courses were not transferred to Valencia from SSC when I attended there. That is my understanding of it as far as Florida schools go, but as far as transferring between schools over state lines I am clueless.
Honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with money! The schools want you to take as many classes there as possible. So not accepting those seemingly meaningless classes makes sense to the schools. More classes means more tuition. Also, if you look at the course materials every year for some classes, the books change every couple of years. More new books, means more money for supplying new books. That is just my opinion though.

I graduated from the University of Florida. Hence the confusion.
Go to http://www.onlineaha.org and sign up for the BLS for Health Care Providers. It's a quick and easy online course then you do a skills check at an accredited place. It's better than taking the actual class and much faster.
:)

Just scheduled my BLS class for Saturday November 19 from 9-1 at Orlando Medical Institute 6220 S. OBT. Found through heart.org if anyone wants to join me :) www.orlandomedicalinstitute.com
